Yeon Jung-hoon’s Top Dramas

East of Eden (2008)

The drama is about two men whose fates are crossed from the very first day that they were born. Both men were born in the same hospital. When he was five years old, Lee Dong Chul (Song Seung Heon) witnessed the death of his father. From then on he promised to seek revenge on the man who caused his father’s death, Shin Tae Hwan (Jo Min Ki).

But unbeknownst to everybody is the fact that Dong Chul’s younger brother, Dong Wook (Yeon Jung Hoon), was switched at birth with Tae Hwan’s son, Myung Hun (Park Hae Jin). Dong Wook grows up to become a prosecutor and vows to help his brother seek revenge.

This story is really interesting because two babies (Song Seung Heon and Yeon Jung Hoon) are switched at birth by a vengeful nurse.

Jejungwon (2010)

Jejoongwon is the first modern hospital in Korea established in the Joseon era in 1885. Baek Do Yang (Yeon Jung Hoon) is a nobleman who gives up his status to enter its ranks. Hwang Jung (Park Yong Woo) is a butcher’s son who becomes a physician, while Seok Ran (Han Hye Jin) enters Jejoongwon as an interpreter but takes on medical training to become a doctor.

Jejoongwon tells the true story of the first western medical hospital in Joseon era Korea. There are three central stories in Jejoongwon: the so-called “rags-to-riches” story, the rivalry between two very competent people story, and the love story. All of these sub-stories are told in a very different manner from most K-Dramas, and provide something for everyone to enjoy!

Vampire Prosecutor (2011)

Prosecutor Min Tae Yeon (Yeon Jung Hoon) is bitten by somebody and becomes a Vampire. Tae Yeon rejects the life of a vampire and he survives by drinking the blood of dead people and still lives as a righteous prosecutor.

Tae Yeon also uses his newly found abilities as a Vampire to prosecute powerful persons normally thought above the law. A mysterious case then occurs and the evidence points to a Vampire as the perpetrator. Tae Yeon now knows that he is not the only Vampire. He also ponders why he became a Vampire and what truths may lie behind their motives.

Each episode deals with a different and interesting case that is brought to resolution by the end of the episode. Some of the cases/suspects are hilarious. Despite each episode being a different murder case, there is an overarching storyline (of the paranormal kind) that continues throughout the season.

My Healing Love (2018)

The success story follows Im Chi Woo (So Yoo Jin) and Choi Jin Yoo (Yeon Jung Hoon) as they pursue their own happiness. Im Chi Woo never wanted to become a good daughter, a good daughter-in-law or a good wife, but she sacrifices herself to take care of her family.

She is married to the immature Park Wan Seung (Yoon Jong Hoon) and she works several part-time jobs to support her family. Under her difficult situation, she keeps smiling and maintains her positive attitude.

Choi Jin Yoo is a divorcee and he has a daughter. He works hard and tries to live positively for his daughter. He encounters a nightmare like scenario.

Possessed (2019)

Kang Pil Sung (Song Sae Byuk) works as a detective. His instincts as a detective are excellent and he is foul-mouthed. He is both lazy and rough, but he is also soft-hearted.

Hong Seo Jung (Go Joon Hee) has excellent psychic mediumship, but she tries to hide her ability. This causes her to keep a distance from other people and she lives a lonely life.
While Kang Pil Sung investigates a case, he happens to meet Hong Seo Jung. He thinks that she is different from others and takes an interest in her. They begin to solve cases together using their special abilities.

In this drama, Yeon Jung Hoon plays a supporting role as Oh Soo Hyuk (President’s son of Han Neul Hospital).
