Vanner’s Debut Era

On February 14, 2019, VANNER released its debut album V along with the music video for its first title track “Better Do Better.” It is the first K-pop group to debut with a studio album. The album contains a total of 17 songs, and all of the members participated in writing lyrics and composing.

“Better Do Better” describes the feelings of a man when he tries to win the affection of a girl who doesn’t love him back. The colorful music video features the VANNER members as they sing to express their affection more and more until their love is returned.

Vanner released the song “Better Do Better” on its 1st full-length album through its SNS. Besides that, actress Jin Hye-won attracted attention by appearing in the music video. Vanner’s members are wearing casual clothes and gaze at one place that attracts attention with a surprised expression.

In the next scene, Vanner captures women’s hearts by showing off a bright and free-spirited atmosphere with a bouquet that adds splendor to the fashion with a charismatic expression and personality.

In particular, Jin Hye-won is sitting on the sofa and stares at the front with an expressionless expression that increased the expectations for the music video.

Vanner’s members said during their debut showcase, “We are a distinctive group with a unique charm among all the members, and the tension is very high. Dancing and singing energy is their strong character,” they said.

“We already had a show and debuted in Japan so we wanted to inform the K-pop. Long’s hard to perform in Japan before our debut but had a lot of practice. Finally, many fans were able to successfully complete the performances to come,” he introduced.

The fact that Vanner’s debut album is a full-length album attracts attention. It contains 10 songs in all, including the title song “Better Do Better.” Expectations are high for the colors that the Vanner will show as it captures a trendy yet lyrical sensibility in this album.

Vanner explained, “We wanted to show a variety of attractions in the album. Even it was tough to debut with as a regular album,” they said. “Our debut album, V, is the first letter of Vanner, “V,” which represents the senses and sophisticated styling present for a new idol and role model for the birth of a K-pop album filled with the ambition to win,” they explained.

The title song “Better Do Better” was participated in by the members Taehwan, Gon, and Ahxian who wrote the lyrics, participated in composing, and made the rap. It is a crossover genre of future pop and tropical house, and it contains the content of expressing the heart of a man who is in love with the heart of a man who is in love twice as much and earning love. Vanner revealed that it will show doubled energy from their ambition.

The B-side songs, “Upper” and “Without You,” had different charms from the title song “Better Do Better.” If “Better Do Better” is refreshing and bright, “Upper” is dark and thick, and “Without You” is free to feel the charm of the members. Vanner boasts a colorful charm with several songs on the album.

At that time, Vanner’s goal during its debut era was to win the Rookie of the Year Award.
