SIXTEEN became a survival girl group show to select members out of 16 trainees from JYP. They had to sing, dance, and show their unique abilities to compete in order to get a place as a member of the upcoming girl group.

After SIXTEEN released successfully, the members that became in line for debut were Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung.

But, suddenly, JYP changed the formation by adding Momo and Tzuyu. Momo was even eliminated on one episode of SIXTEEN, but JYP had its opinion.
