In 2019, Nana Komatsu starred in Japanese period movie, titled Samurai Marathon. It was directed by Bernard Rose, based on novel with the same name by Akihiro Dobasi. Her previous co-stars in Bakuman, Takeru Satoh and Shota Sometani, also star in this movie alongside her.
Samurai Marathon starts with the hanshu maintaining a marathon to prepare his warriors for future assaults by foreign invaders. The marathon goes for about 58 kilometers along a mountain track. Retainers are joining the marathon to be awarded a reward. Meanwhile, the central Edo government erroneously views the marathon as an act of treason. Assassins will be sent to the castle of the hanshu. Jinnai Karasawa (Takeru Satoh) appears at the han as a ordinary samurai, but he is actually a spy for the central government. He understands assassins are being sent to the castle of the hanshu. Jinnai Karasawa operates desperately in order to stop the murderers and clear up the misunderstanding.
