2016 – A Man and A Woman

A Man and a Woman is a romance film from South Korea. The film was directed by Lee Yoon-ki and starring Jeon Do-yeon and Gong Yoo. It was released on February 25th, 2016. The romantic film tells a story of two people who meet and begin a love affair in Helsinki, Finland. 

In this movie, Gong Yoo played the role of Ki-hong. Ki-hong is an architect working in Finland. His family is far from perfect and he struggles daily with his daughter’s depression and his wife’s mental instability.

One day, he meets a stranger after they drop off their kids at a pickup area for a children’s camp in Helsinki, Finland. But on the way back, there is a snowstorm so they have to spend the night in an inn. In the morning, they walk through the forest to go to a secluded sauna. On the next day, they leave the inn without knowing each other’s names. Several months later, they meet again, when Sang-min fixes a display at her workplace and she sees Ki-hong walking by.

2016 until 2017 – Goblin

Goblin, or also well known as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, is a popular and the third-highest rated Korean drama in cable television history. It was aired on the cable network tvN from December 2nd, 2016, to January 21st, 2017. The drama was written by popular drama writer Kim Eun-sook and starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae.

In this drama, Gong Yoo acted as Kim Shin, also known as Goblin. Kim Shin is a 939-year-old immortal goblin and soul protector who is looking for his bride, the only person who can see and release a sword that pierces his chest. Once the sword is released, he may finally move to the afterlife and rest in peace.

The fantasy romantic comedy-drama tells a story of the Goblin who is in search of his bride. Kim Shin is a goblin and the landlord of the grim reaper, in charge of taking souls who have died. Kim Shin wants to end his immortal life, and he has been looking for his human bride, the only person who can end his life.

Meanwhile, Ji Eun-tak is a high school student who remains optimistic in the midst of the various tragedies and difficulties she experiences in her life. She can see ghosts and can hear ghosts saying that she is the goblin’s bride. She summons the goblin by a chance, and through various encounters, ends up falling in love with him. Sunny is the owner of a chicken restaurant, which is very pretty. The lives of these four characters have a series of relationships in the past and present. They will experience many twists when their lives get intertwined.
