Jessi’s Plastic Surgery
Jessi has always been very open and honest about getting plastic surgery on several occasions. When she was appeared on KBS2’s “Happy Together” on April 2, 2015, she revealed how she had done plastic surgery on her. She coolly admitted that she had double eyelid surgery and a nose job, “I did my eyes and nose three years ago. I didn’t do it because I wanted to, though. I chose to do plastic surgery because of my agency’s advice and to appear more photogenic,” as reported by Allkpop.
She also admitted that she felt regret about getting surgery, “I would love to take it back, you know. I regret getting my eyes done so much. My boss told me, ‘You will look less fierce if you have your eyes done.’ After I got it done, I looked more fierce. Now I can’t change that.” You can watch the video below!
And on December 16, 2015, when she appeared on MBC’s “Radio Star”, she said she looked like “a monster” after plastic surgery, “After the surgery, my face broke my heart. I instantly asked the surgeon to get rid of the stitches. After about a year, the swelling naturally settled down. Some asked me whether I had another surgery to tone down the swelling,” as reported by The Korea Times.
Also on September 15, 2016, when she was appeared again as the guest on KBS2’s “Happy Together”, she shared her feelings on the malicious comments written about her getting plastic surgery on her breasts, “I’m a human too, so I end up looking at negative comments. A lot of them talk about how it’s obvious I got breast implants. I paid for the surgery with my own money. Why do I have to hide it?”
She then continued, “There are lot of people who hide it after getting surgery. That’s more laughable. If you did, you should just say you did. Then does this breast look real?” as reported by Allkpop. Here you can watch the moment at 3:14 when she savagely said that!
Jessi’s Love Life: Who’s Her Boyfriend?
On October 9, 2014, when Jessi was appeared on Arirang TV’s “After School Club”, she said that she had a crush on her friend’s boyfriend for five years!
On October 10, 2016, when Jessi appeared as a featured guest on SBS’s “Kim Young-chul’s Fun Fun Today” radio show, she was asked how many celebrities asked her out, if at least by three celebrities. She replied, “A bit more… I am a woman too, and it’s actually over 10. I’m single now, but I’ve dated a celebrity, and I am the type to date for a long time once I’m in a relationship.”
When DJ Kim Young-chul asked, “What do you think about a boyfriend like me?” she answered, “Not bad… I like someone who can make me laugh and who as a similar sense of humor as me. You make me laugh. I don’t care about the appearance,” as reported by Allkpop.
Jessi was dating an Argentine-born Korean-American rapper, Dumbfoundead, since 2016 till 2017. But it was only recently discovered, on February 16, 2017, when the media outlets reported about it. It was reported that they were in a long-distance relationship, they were very close friends in the past, were recently spotted on a date with acquaintances in Los Angeles, California, as reported by OSEN News. They met through their mutual love of hip-hop and have since been enjoying dates with friends of the two and with other colleagues in Los Angeles, as reported by KpopStarz. Their fans already know that Jessi and Dumbfoundead were working in the same field and the two share the same kind of mindset.
But unfortunately, the news that they were dating was revealed after their break-up news. Jessi’s past management, YMC Entertainment, clarified about the fact that they had already broken up. They revealed that the two decided to go their separate ways so as to focus more on their careers and they said that they can not reveal anything further as it is a private matter, as reported Allkpop and KpopStarz.
On October 31, 2018, when she was appeared on MBC’s “Radio Star”, she talked about the time when she met Ha Jung-woo, her ideal type, “He was so nice and manly. Ha Jung-woo threw his script and took a photo with me. I was so touched. I was a bit shy.”
About Racism She Faced in US
On October 31, 2018, Jessi appeared as the guest on MBC’s “Radio Star”. She opened up about her experience with racism. She shared a time when she got in a fight with a racist in America. She revealed there were very few Asians where she grew up in America, “There were not many Asians in the town I lived in the United States.” She continued, “I was alone and this guy made fun of me for 4 years. It was racism,” as reported by Allkpop.
Jessi seems to be quite a tough cookie as she said, “I held it back for 4 years then got into a fight. He didn’t mess with me after that.”
However, she also mentioned that violence is never the answer to racism or any other issues involving discrimination, she emphasized the importance of standing up and having a voice, as reported by Kpopmap.
When she had an interview with JoongAng Ilbo in November, 2015, she said, “I saw online comments bullying me as an American and telling me to go back to the U.S. But I believed I would be successful someday and kept training myself. I just never thought that day would be this year,” as reported by The Korea Times.
When she appeared on YouTuber Dave’s video, she revealed, “In the past, I got hurt, but if I get stressed about each and every comment, I will just get older and hurt. So I’m going to curse back at you,” as reported by Resonate News.
Signed with PSY’s New Agency, P-Nation
There was a report that on October 31, 2018, Jessi’s exclusive contract with YMC Entertainment has technically already ended, but YMC Entertainment said that they continue to discuss the possibility of contract renewal. As a further matter progressed, it turned out that Jessi did not renew her contract with YMC Entertainment, after all. Instead, she was scouted for her singing, rapping, and performance abilities by a new agency, owned by PSY, called “P-Nation”, it was reported by News 1 on January 10, 2019.
On January 24, 2019, PSY announced the formation of his new agency “P-NATION” through social media, declaring that he wants to “make a playground for passionate players chasing their dreams with sweats!” as reported by Billboard. PSY also confirmed that Jessi is the first artist to join his new agency, P-NATION. Jessi also shared a video of herself officially stamping her exclusive contract with P-NATION.
As we know, Jessi has an outspoken personality. When she released her song titled “Don’t Make Me Cry”, it seemed she did not get as much promotional assistance as she expected from YMC Entertainment, her past management agency. On January 23, 2017, she posted on her personal Instagram account, with the caption, “Thank god for my fans and friends for supporting me. 🙏🏻 #selfemployed #selfmade #selfpromoting #onmyown fuckit #laughnowcrylater”.
Because of the caption, it made her fans show their anger towards YMC Entertainment, who did not promote Jessi’s songs often, if at all. Her past management’s lack of promotion is probably one of the reasons that she did not renew her contract with YMC Entertainment.
