Do you know that in the K-pop community in South Korea, there is a term for the three popular 4th generation boy groups? It’s ZZZ or 즈즈즈. That’s because the three groups have 즈 at the end of their names. The first one is The Boyz or 더보이’즈’, Stray Kids or 스트레이키’즈’, and ATEEZ or 에이티’즈’. They are getting a lot of fans among Korean and international fans these days.

However, Hwall left the group due to health issues in 2019.

Kim Seonwoo, or we can just call him by his stage name Sunwoo, was born in Gangnam, Seoul. Sunwoo was born in the same area that most K-pop agencies are located. However, Sunwoo spent most of his childhood in Seongnam, Jangan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
In his hometown, Sunwoo lived with his parents, grandparents, and his little sister. Sunwoo’s little sister was born in 2002 and is only two years younger than him. Sunwoo might be the youngest member along with Eric in The Boyz, but in his family, he’s a dependable “oppa.”
As a child, Sunwoo was always into soccer. He was a soccer player for around 4 years. Sunwoo was a great soccer player back then. He always spent his days in the field. That’s why his skin is darker. If he stands next to The Boyz’s members with lighter skin, you can see the difference.
As much as Sunwoo likes soccer, he didn’t end up becoming a soccer player. He might have joined a professional football club if he didn’t discover his passion for music, especially rap.
Sunwoo decided to join an audition when he was in school. Sunwoo tried to apply for an audition for a K-pop agency after he learned how to rap. But, on the day of the audition, he overslept. Since Sunwoo was running late, instead of being nervous, his mind was focused on getting there in time.
Then, the rest is history. In 2016, Sunwoo passed the audition, and he met the other trainees that would later become members of The Boyz.
In 2017, Sunwoo joined a survival show called High School Rapper on Mnet. He represented the Seoul- Gangdong area and finished at rank #8.

Sunwoo’s journey to be a K-pop idol was quite challenging. He left Seongnam, his hometown, for Seoul. Even though at that time he was quite young, he went for it because he wanted to pursue his dream. Sunwoo then trained for a year and three months before he officially debuted with The Boyz.
In July 2017, The Boyz’s agency, Cre.ker Entertainment, announced that their upcoming boy group would make its debut soon. They also released the name of the group that we know now as The Boyz. On December 6, 2017, The Boyz finally released their first single called “Boy.” They debuted with 12 members who were Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Hwall, Sunwoo, and Eric. The leader of the group is Lee Sangyeon, while the youngest member is Eric Sohn.
