Eunhyuk has an impressive amount of talent. At the age of 13, Eunhyuk put a group together with his childhood friends Kim Junsu, Hwang Tae Jun, and Choi Min Seok the named the group SRD, or Song Rap and Dance. Since childhood, Eunhyuk was already interested in entering into the music world in Korea. Previously, Eunhyuk was inspired by H.O.T’s Jang Woo-Hyuk, Michael Jackson, and singer-dancer Yoo Seung-Jun.

At the age of 13, Eunhyuk also challenged himself and Junsu to join an SM Entertainment audition. However, he failed the audition in 1999 and entered again the following year and got in as a trainee. He started training in singing, dancing, and acting and had brief Mandarin Chinese language courses. He was also scouted with an interview in Seoul, yet declined due to contract issues.

At the age of 14, he reached SM’s master dance class and won the Goyang citywide dance competition in 2000. In 2002, Eunhyuk, Kim Junsu, and another trainee named Sungmin were placed in a project R&B group.

At the age of 29, Eunhyuk began his obligated military service on October 15, 2015, and finished on July 12, 2017. Now, Eunhyuk focuses on Super Junior’s activities.

Eunhyuk’s Military Service

Compulsory military service is a mandatory activity that must be done by every man in Korea to serve the country. The rules even apply to Korean idols. Eunhyuk finished his military service 2 years ago. Earlier, SM Entertainment confirmed Eunhyuk to be performing conscription on October 15, 2015, and finishing on July 12, 2017.

He performed active duty in a military band in Wonju, 132 kilometers east of Seoul, for 21 months. He was placed in a training group as well as a military band in Korea. Eunhyuk became viral and became a trending topic of the world after he finished his military service.

Eunhyuk’s exit from the draft was greeted by 500 ELF (EverLastingFriends), the fandom name of Super Junior. Unmitigated, they came with several buses and departed at midnight from Seoul to welcome the return of Eunhyuk to the entertainment world.

He said to his fans, “I’m being discharged with a happy heart. Thank you so much for waiting for me in good health for the past two years. I’m sorry for making your hearts ache.”He also emphasized that the letters and gifts he got from fans while he was in the army gave him great strength. He also teared up, to which fans chanted, “Do not cry!”

Not only 500 ELF, but his bandmates Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, and Donghae also showed their loyalty by coming out to welcome him back. “It feels a bit sweet and bitter. I’m nervous after so long not being in front of the camera. I’m out-armed with kindness. Thank you for waiting for two years. I apologize for making your heart hurt,” said Eunhyuk.

After that, he promised to buy chicken soup for Super Junior’s members who came to pick him up. In addition, he also prayed that his military companions, such as Choi Siwon, Kim Ryeowook, Cho Kyuhyun, and Donghae, would be able to do their job well and come back healthy.

Eunhyuk could not hold back when ELF brought a banner saying “(I) waited 55,123,200 seconds for this moment. There is no more separation, and ELF became your strength.”

While in the military, Eunhyuk was appointed Lieutenant. “This story happened during the training period. There was a reason why I was appointed as a platoon leader in the training center. I had a video call with Taeyeon and Tiffany from Girls’ Generation. Because of that, there was extraordinary furor,” Eunhyuk said.

Then he thanked his junior at SM Entertainment’s agency. This way, I want to thank Tiffany and Taeyeon once again. It feels like they really are goddesses,” Eunhyuk concluded.
