7. f(x)’s Sulli
A shocking and sudden death also happened to Sully. The beautiful Sulli, who was once a member of the girl group f(x), was found dead in her home on October 14, 2019.
Police said that Sulli died because of suicide. Sully, real name Choi Jin-ri, was first found by her manager who was unable to contact her.
Prior to her death, Sully was dealing with social media hate comments regarding her bold and brave activities. She suffered from mental depression. She was always getting criticized for her choices like not wearing bras, kissing her friend on the lips, and even dating someone who is way older than her. Sully should have had the freedom to do what she wanted to do.
Cyberbullying is something that is really easy to do by the public yet has a huge effect on the victims. That’s why the topic arose of having it connected to the law so people can’t share hate comments easily.
8. Goo Hara
Goo Hara was a K-pop idol group member of Kara. On November 24, 2019, she was found dead in her home in Seoul. Again, it was caused by suicide.
Before her death, Goo Hara attempted to take her life in May of that year, but she was saved. She even apologized for making public noise because of her incident.
Moreover, Goo Hara was being blackmailed by her ex-boyfriend Choi Jong-bum with intimate video activities. She was also receiving hate comments from the Internet. Jong-bum was sentenced to a year in prison because of his deeds, but it had already affected Goo Hara’s career.
9. Cha In-ha
Cha In-ha was a South Korean actor who was also found dead in his home. The K-pop star’s death really hit people since it was close to the deaths of Sully and Goo Hara.
On December 3, 2019, Cha In-ha’s death was suspected as suicide. The authorities did not find a final message in his home, yet on his Instagram, Cha In-ha posted a secret message. He wished everyone to be careful and not to catch a cold during the winter.
The unexpected death of Cha In-ha followed his earlier interview where he said he had courage and hope for his upcoming career. He expressed that he wanted to be someone who evolves as an actor and as a human. It’s felt so tragic and sad that real life was something different.
10. TST’s Yohan
Kim Jeong-hwan was a member of the K-pop group TST. On June 16, 2020, he was found dead at the age of 28. The reason for his death wasn’t revealed directly. His label, KJ Entertainment, only stated that his death was a heartbreaking and grievous moment.

11. Song Yoo-jung
Soo Yoo-jung was an actress under Sublime Artist Agency. In 2021, she was found dead in her home in Seoul, and she was only 26 years old. The agency prefers to not talk about this incident with the public so the cause of her death was not revealed directly. It was predicted to be related to mental health issues.
South Korean entertainment leads public attention, and a lot of aspiring K-pop idols start their career as a teenager while growing into an adult. The fast entertainment industry can easily replace them if something doesn’t fit anymore, so mental health becomes the important thing to be worked on.
That was all about K-pop stars’ deaths you should know. We hope sudden K-pop idol deaths due to suicide do not happen again in the future. Let’s support all of their work and not send hate comments or cyberbully because, after all, we are all human.
