Son Seung-yeon’s TV Show Appearances
The Voice Korea
Son Seung-yeon made her first appearance on TV by participating in the survival music show The Voice Korea Season 1 that aired on Mnet during 2012. The show’s original format is The Voice Holland, where four judges should choose and train their contestants in a team in order to win.
Seung-yeon herself came from coach Shin Seung-hun. She was competing against the team from coach Baek Ji-young, Gil, and Kangta. Thanks to her amazing abilities in singing (which being said that no one can sing like her), she drew the judges’ attention and viewers’ votes, making her the winner of the very first season of The Voice Korea.
This is her audition performance. She amazed two out of four judges by singing a song titled “Go Away” by a YG girl group named 2NE1. Son Seung-yeon was able to fit into the song really well, she should have even sung it alone!
If she started with an upbeat song, she ended the show with a ballad yet powerful and tricky song. Her voice definitely fit into any song given! Don’t forget her debut iconic appearance with that edgy short hair cut, so cool!
Immortal Songs
Son Seung-yeon also made an appearance in the SBS competition program Immortal Songs in 2015. In this show, she was singing songs that are considered to be legends and will stand the test of time. As usual, Son Seung-yeon gave one of her best performances. Some of her performances can be seen in the video below.
We already know that the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen is a quite hard song to be covered. But, our ‘queen’ Son Seung-yeon delivered the cover so great! Her voice range is so wide, from a ballad, to pop, to rock. Any notes from low to high she can hit perfectly. This female version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” is definitely lit, and Seung-yeon owned it!
This time, she showed her ability to sing such a soulful ballad song. Her heavenly voice could make people cry suddenly.
The King of Masked Singer
This time, Son Seung-yeon participated in MBC’s singing competition The King of Masked Singer, in 2018. She and the other contestants were wearing masks designed by Hwang Jae-gun to hide their identity, making the judgment more objective.
Not surprising from a girl with an undoubted talent like hers, she made the new record for a female singer in the show!
Inside the Korean traditional costume and cute mask, Son Seung-yeon delivered the song “A Winter Story” incredibly beautiful! Some viewers who heard her singing instantly teared up as her voice really send chills down their spines and was really soulful.
