There are four members of SM Rookies currently still undergoing a training period to be debuted in the next girl group from SM Entertainment. The trainees’ group name is SR19G, SM Rookies 2019 Girl.
Lami is one of the members of SM Rookies. Her real name Kim Sung-kyung. She was born on March 3rd, 2003, in Busan, South Korea. She was introduced as an SM Rookie on December 10th, 2013. Even though she is still a trainee, she has already played a role in several Korean dramas and movie such as Five Fingers, A Wife’s Credentials, and Montage. She has also appeared in Red Velvet’s Music Video for the song “Happiness,” and Kim Yuna & Lena Park’s song “Winter Dream.”
Goeun is a trainee of SM Rookies and was first introduced as an SM Rookie trainee on July 8th, 2015. Her real name is Ko Eunji. She was born on March 18th, 1999, in Seoul, South Korea. She has been a trainee for about eight to nine years. She was supposed to debut as a member of Red Velvet.
Nakamura Hina, or better known as Hina, is a member of SM Rookies from Japan. She was born on January 5th, 2000, in Nagoya, Japan. She can speak Japanese and Korean. She was first introduced as a member of SM Rookies on July 8th, 2015. Her specialty is dancing and she has been dancing since she was four years old. Currently, she is a student of the School of Performing Arts Seoul.
Ningning is a member of SM Rookies from China. Her real name is Ning Yizhuo and she was born on October 23rd, 2002, in Harbin, China. She was a member of Let’s Sing Kids in China. Ningning was introduced as an SM Rookie member on September 19th, 2016. Her specialty is vocals and she can play the piano.
After it was first established by SM Entertainment in 2013, SM Rookies has managed and successfully trained its trainees until they debuted as members of popular groups in South Korea.
Red Velvet is a popular girl group from South Korea under SM Entertainment. Red Velvet is the first batch of trainees from SM Rookies that debuted as idols in 2014. The group officially debuted on August 1st, 2014, with the digital single “Happiness” and four group members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy.
Their debut single, “Happiness” is an urban Europop song with a strong synth sound and an African tribal beat. The original music video of “Happiness” gained more than 2 million views on YouTube in its first 24 hours upon release. However, the original music video was removed due to controversy of its background images and has replaced with an edited version.
On October 9th, 2014, Red Velvet released their second digital single “Be Natural.”
On March 11th, 2015, SM Rookies member Yeri was officially added to the group. And on March 15th, the group released their first mini-album Ice Cream Cake and the Music video of its title track “Ice Cream Cake” was released on March 16th, 2015. It was their first comeback of Red Velvet with a line-up of five members.
On August 19th, 2019, Red Velvet released their new album The ReVe Festival: Day 2 and music video for the title track “Umpah Umpah.”
NCT is a popular South Korean boy group formed by SM Entertainment. NCT stands for the Hallyu localization project Neo Culture Technology, it means the group has an unlimited number of members divided into multiple subunits based in various cities worldwide.
On March 14th, 2018, NCT released its first full-length album, NCT 2018 Empathy. The album featured six singles, showcasing all current units of NCT and the song “Black on Black” promoting as NCT 2018.
NCT U is the first subunit of NCT. The group officially debuted on April 9th, 2019, with their two singles “The 7th Sense” and “Without You.” The members of NCT U are Mark, Jaehyun, Taeil, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Winwin, Jung-woo, and Lucas. However, members change depending on who fits that concept.
In 2018, NCT U released songs as a part of NCT 2018 Empathy album. The “Boss” line-up consisted of Taeyong, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Lucas, and Mark. Meanwhile, the “Baby Don’t Stop” line-up consisted of Taeyong and Ten. The “Yestoday” line-up consisted of Taeyong, Doyoung, Lucas, and Mark.
NCT Dream is the third subunit of NCT. The group has a graduation system, where they graduate from the unit after reaching the Korean age of 20 (19 internationally).
NCT Dream officially debuted on August 25th, 2016, with the single “Chewing Gum” and with seven members: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung. However, Mark graduated from the group on December 31st, 2018.
On September 3rd, 2018, NCT Dream released an EP titled We Go Up. The album was the last comeback with Mark, who, shortly after, graduated from the group.
On July 26th, 2019, NCT Dream released their third EP, We Boom, and its title track, “Boom,” and it was their first comeback without Mark.
In 2018, SM Entertainment Introduced the new subunit of NCT, WayV. WayV is the fourth subunit and the China-based unit of NCT. The members of WayV are Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang.
WayV officially debuted on January 17th, 2019, under SM Entertainment’s China-exclusive label, Label V, with the release of their first digital EP, The Vision, with a Chinese version of NCT 127’s “Regular” as the lead single.
On May 9th, 2019, WayV released their first mini-album, Take Off.
