Shin Sung-rok’s On-screen Romantic Relationships

Shin Sung-rok appeared on MBC’s dating reality show We Got Married Season 1 as part of a virtual couple with comedienne Kim Shin-young. He appeared in Episodes 42, and 45 – 54. His first appearance was in Episode 42 which aired on January 25, 2009. In the episode, he met Kim Shin-young for the first time at a basketball court. The couples’ nickname was Shin Couple, as they both have name ‘Shin’ in their name.
As an on-screen married couple, the did a lot of things together. Shin Sung-rok came to Kim Shin-young’s house and they started decorating the house together, and afterward, they had their housewarming party. They were also given a mission and had to compete with other couples and play games. They also supported each other in their respective real-life activities. Shin Sung-rok became a guest on Kim Shin-young’s radio live show, for example, and later Kim Shin-young watched one of Shin Sung-rok’s musical theatre performances.

The last mission they received was to ‘make good memories together for Spring Vacation’. Shin Sung-rok and Kim Shin-young went to an amusement park for their vacation, spending their time together before having their farewell at the end of the episode.
Shin Sung-rok’s Off-screen Romantic Relationship

In May 2014, it was confirmed that Shin Sung-rok was dating the ballerina, Kim Joo-won. The news said that the two had been dating for a year and nine months. Shin Sung-rok came to know Kim Joo-won through mutual friends who were part of the same agency that she was. Kim Joo-won is a famous ballerina who has been a member of the Korea National Ballet Company for 15 years, and is also a professor at Sungshin Woman’s University.
The couple broke up in August, 2015. According to his agency, they decided to part ways amicably, and remain supportive friends.

In May, 2016, HB Entertainment announced that Shin Sung-rok would be marrying his girlfriend in mid-June, in Hawaii. The wedding would be simple and quiet with only family and close friends in attendance. Shin Sung-rok’s girlfriend of the time was a non-celebrity, and was described simply as ‘working in a regular company’. Shin Sung-rok met his bride-to-be through friends, and despite the short relationship, they affirmed their love and trust with each other and decided to get married.
Some of their wedding pictorial has been released. The wedding photoshoot took place at a studio in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul. Shin Sung-rok looks charismatic and ecstatic alongside his beautiful and shy bride-to-be. The couple are both tall and have model-like figures, so they looked good with the simplest style.

In November, 2016, his wife gave birth to a daughter at a hospital in Seoul. The mother and child were both healthy.
