Yeo Woon-kay’s Little Information
Yeo Woon-kay started acting from an early age, while she was still in high school and continued during her student years at Korea University, where she also studied literature. Because of her work at Daekhakgeuk, which was also known as an amateur student theater during the 1950s and 1960s, she became known alongside other contemporary Korean actors, like Lee Soon-jae.
In 1962 she made her professional theater debut with a theater troupe. She was also able to make a transition to a successful television career from the theater world. Yeo Woon-kay had often played the role of a grandmother or “grandmotherly figure,” beginning in her twenties. The example, some of these characters include her roles in Toji (1986) and Jewel in the Palace (2003).
