Before debuting as a member of PRISTIN, she had a chance to become a back dancer for Orange Caramel’s “My Copycat” music video.
However, Kyla’s career as an idol did not go smoothly, she received heavy criticism from many people because of her slightly fat body shape. Kyla’s Body-Shaming and Plumpness
Kyla debuted as a member of PRISTIN in 2017 before the group was disbanded in 2019. Throughout her career as an idol, it was not easy for Kyla, she was even a target of body-shaming due to her slightly fat body and looks different from other PRISTIN members who look thin. Kyla received a lot of criticism related to her body shape, especially the thighs, which according to netizens are very large and Kyla needs to pay attention to her body shape as a female idol.
Kyla was even a victim of unethical behavior during a press conference. One by one, PRISTIN members were coming forward to pose and the cameras were focused on them, however, when Kyla appeared, the camera does not take Kyla photos and focused on other PRISTIN members. Of course, this behavior was criticized by some people.
Reporting from Koreaboo, Kyla spoke up against the malicious comments that continued to criticize her and body-shame her over the years on Twitter. Kyla feels insecure as a result of many people talking about her body shape, but she has learned over the years that other people’s opinions don’t define her. She knows that she’s beautiful in her own way and has decided to inspire others to love themselves. After having to suffer through difficult times herself, Kyla has come out stronger than ever and continues to inspire everyone to not be ashamed of their bodies and love themselves.
Due to the evil comments she received, Kyla took a hiatus for a while. Reported from Allkpop, Kyla opened her personal YouTube channel and shared the real reason she was on hiatus. She said, “In actuality, The reason why I went on hiatus is that I ended up getting injured. I got a concussion while filming our second music video, and the doctors and my company decided that it would be best if I took a period to rest and recover from this injury. What I can tell you, is that a lot of things happened behind the scenes that you guys are unaware of. And ultimately, we all came to the decision. We all came to this mutual agreement that would be best if we all went our separate paths. We all have our own callings and we thought that, at this point, it would be best if we went our own separate directions.”
During the first year of hiatus, Kyla decided to stay in America with her family until her health recovered. Kyla also said that during the first year of hiatus, she enjoyed her time together with her family and spent time playing in the playground with her siblings.
