Park Sang-won’s Acting Career

Park Sang-won is a veteran actor from South Korea. His first appearance in a drama was in River in 1987. The following year, Park acted in Human Market. The drama was based on Kim Hong-shin’s bestselling novel and became one of the classics of 1980’s Korean television. Park received awards in the Best New Actor category at MBC Drama Awards in 1988 and 28th Baeksang Arts Awards in 1989.

In 1991, Park Sang-won acted in Eyes of Dawn along with Choi Jae-sung and Chae Si-ra. The story spans from the Japanese colonial period to World War II, Korea’s liberation, and the Korean War. The drama reached a viewership rating of 58.4% and became the 9th highest-rated Korean drama of all time. For the next several years, Park also acted in Rainbow in Mapo (1992), Goblin Is Coming (1994), and Asphalt Man (1995).

In 1995, Park Sang-won was cast in the drama Sandglass and co-starred with Choi Min-soo and Go Hyun-jung. The story was about the tragic relationship among three friends.
