Warner Music Japan released Twice‘s first Japanese maxi single with the title “One More Time” on October 18, 2017. This maxi single has 3 other songs. They are “Luv Me” as a B-side, “One More Time” (instrumental), and “Luv Me” (instrumental). “One More Time” is Twice’s first Japanese single without a Korean version.

The first time Twice gave a sign that they would make a comeback with a Japanese single was on August 6, 2017. Twice released a video titled “TWICE #SPOT MOVIE.” This video shows a compilation of Twice’s Japanese versions of songs starting from the song “Like OOH-AHH (Japanese Ver.),” “TT (Japanese Ver.),” and closing with “One More Time?”

On September 15, 2017, Twice officially announced that they would be making a comeback with the Japanese single “One More Time.” On the same day, Twice also released photo teasers for their comeback single. This maxi single has 3 versions: limited edition A, limited edition B, and the regular version. And, there is one special version which is a limited edition only for Japanese “Once” members.

“One More Time” and “Luv Me” were released digitally in South Korea on February 7, 2018. This release coincides with the release of Twice’s second Japanese maxi single, “Candy Pop.”

“One More Time”‘s lyrics were written by 2 Japanese songwriters, Natsumi Watanabe and Yhanael. The music for this song was composed by Na.Zu.Na, Yu-ki Kokubo, and Yhanael. “One More Time” is not Twice’s first song written by Yhanael. Previously, Yhanael wrote Twice’s hit song “Like OOH-AHH (Japanese Ver.)”

“One More Time” is a song that has a 90s vibe with a cheerful melody with EDM elements. This song tells about a girl who falls in love with a boy. And, this girl wants to express her love to the boy first.

Before the MV was released, Twice released 2 MV teasers. The first teaser was released on September 15, 2017. This first teaser features the members with their respective roles: Nayeon and Jihyo as tennis players, Dahyun and Chaeyoung as boxers, Jeongyeon as a boxing referee, Sana as a ring girl, and Momo, Mina, and Tzuyu as rhythmic gymnasts.

The second MV teaser was released on September 29, 2017. This second teaser shows a “One More Time” chorus snippet and also a choreography snippet performed by all of the members. And then, the MV “One More Time” was released on Twice Japan’s official Youtube channel on October 6, 2017.

“One More Time” has a very colorful and interesting MV. The MV for this song features a variety of places in the background. The concept of this MV is several sports competitions such as tennis, boxing, and gymnastics. The members also wear very colorful costumes.

To date, the MV “One More Time” has been watched by more than 92.9 million times and has received more than 914 thousand likes.

Twice Performed “One More Time” at Dreamday Concert 2019

The Dreamday concert was Twice’s concert in Japan. This concert started on March 20, 2019, and ran until April 6, 2019. The concert was held in 3 cities in Japan, namely Osaka, Tokyo, and Nagoya. Twice performed “One More Time,” “Luv Me,” and “Like OOH-AHH (Japanese Ver.)” as the opening songs for the concert.

This is Twice’s performance when presenting “One More Time” at Dreamday Concert at Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan. The concert was attended by 220,000 spectators.

Achievement of “One More Time” and Commercial Performance

“One More Time” was very successful commercially in Japan. On the first day of the song’s release, “One More Time” sold 94,957 copies according to the Oricon charts. This song also managed to top the Line Music Chart. “One More Time” also received a platinum certificate from the RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan) as the first Japanese single by a K-pop girl group to sell 250,000 copies.

Besides being a commercial success, the “One More Time” music video also reached 10 million views in 5 days. To date, the “One More Time” music video has been watched more than 92.9 million times.
