Show Me the Money 6 is the sixth season of a South Korean rap competition TV show that airs on Mnet. The first season aired in 2012 and the latest is the eighth season, which aired in 2019. Even though the format differs for every season, the main plot consists of contestants competing against each other in sequences of challenges until the best rapper is left. The contestants range from rookies to experienced rappers. There are also professional rappers who generally act as judges and mentors, who are known as the producers.

About the Show

Show Me the Money 6 aired every Friday at 23:00 KST from June 30, 2017, to September 1, 2017, on Mnet. The producers consisted of four notable teams. The first team was Team Dynamic Duo, consisting of Choiza and Gaeko. The second team was Team DoPark, consisting of Jay Park and Dok2. The third team was Team FANXYCHILD, consisting of Zico and Dean. The fourth team was Team Feel GHood, consisting of Tiger JK and Bizzy. Rapper Kim Jin-pyo acted as the host for the sixth season.
Judges
Team Dynamic Duo

Team Dynamic Duo consisted of rappers Choiza and Gaeko. The duo debuted in 2004 with the album Taxi Driver. Along with Go Kyung-min, Dynamic Duo founded an independent record label in 2006, named Amoeba Culture. The label is home to prominent artists such as Dynamic Duo, Rhythm Power, Planet Shiver, Yankie, Primary, and Ha:tfelt. It was the first time for Dynamic Duo be producers in the survival show.
Team 도박 (DoPark)

Team DoPark consisted of Jay Park and Dok2. Jay Park is CEO, rapper and singer for AOMG and H1GHR Music, and a Roc Nation recording artist. He previously participated in season 4 as a judge for Team AOMG, along with rapper Loco. Meanwhile, Dok2 is a CEO and rapper for Illionaire Records, and a member of Ambition Muzik and Feel GHood Crew. He previously participated in seasons 3 and 5 as a judge for Team Illionaire ,along with rapper The Quiett.
Team FANXYCHILD

Team FANXYCHILD consisted of Zico and Dean. Zico is a rapper and member of the K-pop group Block B. He is also a member of the hip-hop crew FANXYCHILD. He previously participated as a judge in Show Me the Money 4 for Team ZiPal, along with rapper Paloalto. Meanwhile, Dean is a renowned R&B singer and songwriter under Joombas Music Group. He is also a member of the FANXYCHILD and Club Eskimo crews.
Team Feel GHood

Team Feel GHood consisted of Tiger JK and Bizzy. Tiger JK is a rapper who is well-known for introducing Korean hip-hop during the late ’90s and 2000s. He is the founder and CEO of Feel GHood Music, and a member of the hip-hop groups MFBTY and The Movement. Meanwhile, Bizzy is a rapper under Feel GHood Music and a member of MFBTY and The Movement hip-hop groups.
Rounds
Round One: Open Auditions

The first round was open auditions. The format is that a random judge listens to a short, a cappella rap from each contestant and hands a necklace to the contestants that have passed to the next round. Over 12,000 contestants auditioned with a mix of rookie rappers, returning contestants, and veteran rappers participating in the competition. The open auditions were held in Seoul, South Korea, and Los Angeles and New York in the United States of America. Grammy Award-winning producer/rapper Swizz Beatz was a guest judge for the New York auditions. A total of 130 applicants out of 12,000 applicants passed to the next round.

Round Two: One Minute Rap

The second round involved a one-minute rap. The format was that contestants had one minute to rap in front of all the judges. At least one team of judges must pass the rapper in order for him to move on to the next round. If all four teams fail the rapper, they are eliminated from the competition.
