Lovelyz’ Discography

After introducing three of its members, Baby Soul, Jiae, and Jin, through their solo releases in previous years, Lovelyz finally debuted with an eight-member formation. Prior to the release of their first full album, Lovelyz released Good Night like Yesterday, which they performed on November 12, 2014, a day after their debut showcase at the K-ART Hall in Olympic Park. The music video of Good Night Like Yesterday features the appearance of Infinite’s leader, Sunggyu, as the male model, and all Lovelyz members wear a flower crown, emphasizing their pure, innocent image as a rookie group.

Lovelyz’s debut track, Candy Jelly Love, which was the work of OnePiece and Kim Eana, was released on November 17 along with other tracks from their full album Girls’ Invasion. The b-sides of the album, such as the intro Introducing The Candy, Goodbye Chapter 1, and Getaway, as well as the solo release of Baby Soul’s Stranger, which features soloist Wheesung, Baby Soul and Kei’s She’s a Flirt, which features Infinite’s Dongwoo, Jiae’s Delight, and Jin’s Gone, were included along with the pre-release Good Night Like Yesterday. Notably, Girls’ Invasion sold over 11,324 copies and peaked at #7 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart and #16 on the Gaon Monthly Albums Chart.

Four months later, Lovelyz released the repackaged album Hi~, and began to promote the track with the same title, occasionally performing the additional track, Amusement Track, on music shows. These tracks also became the only Lovelyz’s songs which Jisoo did not participate in, due to her hiatus since the group’s debut. Compared to the debut track, Hi~ highlighted the members’ reserved side in showing their love interest. Notably, Hi~ sold over 19,654 copies and peaked at #4 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart and #12 on the Gaon Monthly Albums Chart.

After greeting the public as a seven-member girl-group, Lovelyz finally returned with Jisoo for their first mini-album, Lovelyz8. Prior to the release of the album, the midtempo ballad track Shooting Star was released on September 14, 2015. The music video shows a peaceful depiction of the girls with the background set of a library.

Three weeks later, Lovelyz released the mini-album Lovelyz8, which contains seven tracks, namely the intro, Welcome to the Lovelyz8, the title track, Ah-Choo, which is the work of One Piece and Seo Ji-eum, Hug Me, How to Be a Pretty Girl, Sweet and Sour, Rapunzel, and the pre-release track Shooting Star. The music video for Ah-Choo features the brief appearance of Infinite’s former member, Hoya. Lovelyz started to rise in prominence after the release of Ah-Choo, as is proven since the track was often used as the background track for several variety programs in South Korea’s television broadcasts. Notably, Lovelyz8 sold over 23,213 copies in South Korea and another 829 copies in Japan, jpeaking at #2 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart.

Early in December, 2015, Lovelyz released their first single album, Lovelinus, which marked their surprise return to the music industry. The single album contains three tracks, For You, which is the work of Heuk Tae (Jung Tae-soo) and Jo Seung-joon, Circle, and BeBe. Many fans think that Woollim Entertainment planned the timing for the single album poorly, because For You is a song that is perfect for playing in the summer instead of in the winter. Nonetheless, sales of Lovelinus hit more than 15,678 copies and it peaked at #2 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart.

Lovelyz started their first spring comeback in 2016 by releasing their second mini-album, A New Trilogy. Prior to the release, a prologue video was shared in mid-April, showing a glimpse of the girls in an indoor garden. A New Trilogy contains seven tracks, the intro, Moonrise, the title track, Destiny, which is the work of OnePiece and Jun Kan-di, Fondant, Bookmark, 1cm, Dear You, and Baby Doll, which could previously be heard in the prologue video.

Notably, A New Trilogy successfully sold over 28,985 copies and peaked at #5 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart and #83 on the Gaon Monthly Albums Chart. In addition, the title track, Destiny, was praised by American producer Brent Fischer, as the track has world-class grooves and current arrangements. The producer also expressed his interest in helping Lovelyz to venture into the American music industry. Well, that’s what we call a masterpiece!

Almost a year later, Lovelyz made a comeback by releasing their second full album, R U Ready?,  in late February, 2017. The album contains eleven tracks, the intro, R U Ready?, the title track, WoW!, which is the work of OnePiece, Cameo, Emotion, First Snow, Knock Knock, Night and Day, and Hide and Seek, as well as the collaboration between members, such as Baby Soul, Kei, and Jin’s Morning Star, Mijoo, Sujeong, and Yein’s The, and Jiae and Jisoo’s My Little Lover. Early in May, 2017, Lovelyz released their repackaged album Now, We and began to promote the track with the same title. The repackaged album also contained one additional track, Aya. Now, We became the first Lovelyz song that won music charts on SBS’s The Show. In addition, Now, We successfully sold over 24,862 copies and topped the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart.

Following the success of their preceding albums that year, Lovelyz made another comeback in November, 2017, with their third mini-album, Fall in Lovelyz. The album became Lovelyz’ first collaboration with 1Take and TAK, who are also notable as their fans, unbinding their strong relationship with YoonSang, who previously worked with the group under OnePiece. Fall in Lovelyz contained seven tracks, the intro, Spotlight, the title track, Twinkle, Triangle, Just, Fallin, Secret Garden, and Sleepy Dream. Notably, Fall in Lovelyz successfully sold over 43,687 copies in South Korea and 3,327 copies in Japan, and peaked at #4 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart and #88 on the Gaon Year-end Albums Chart, making it the group’s highest-selling album, to this day.

Lovelyz returned to the music industry in late April, 2018, by releasing their fourth mini-album, Heal. The album contains six tracks, the intro, Heal, the title track, That Day, which is the work of Sweetune, who previously created the group’s b-side tracks Emotion and The, Mi-myo Mi-myo, Temptation, Watercolor, and ShiningStar. Notably, Heal sold over 42,791 copies in South Korea and 4,794 copies in Japan, and peaked at #2 on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart, #43 on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart, and #10 on Five Music Weekly Albums, Taiwan, as well as topping the iTunes K-pop Music Albums in the United States and Hong Kong in the first week of its release.

In middle of June, 2018, Lovelyz released a special digital single, Wag-Zak. The summer song also became Lovelyz’s first song in which the main vocalist, Jin, didn’t participate due to her hiatus. Wag-Zak was performed several times on music shows, which was followed by the release of its music video. On September 11, Lovelyz released their first compilation album, Muse on Music, which became the first instrumental album that a girl-group released.
