Lee Hyun-jin’s Acting Career
Lee Hyun-jin is an actor from South Korea. His first small screen appearance was in the drama Kimchi Cheese Smile in 2007. The drama is about the contrast life of a kimchi-like family (having a popular and conservative thought) and cheese-like family (rich and stylish class). Lee Hyun-jin acted as Uhm Hyun-jin, the university’s swimming team ace who gives up swimming due to injury and studies abroad. His next drama was Family’s Honor, a family drama starring Park Young-soo and Park Si-hoo. He played as character Jung Hyun-kyu, a university student who falls in love with the main cast Ha Dan-ah (played by Yoon Jung-hee).
In 2008, Lee Hyun-jin was cast in the short film Boy Meet Boy. The film was broadcast with no spoken dialogue and depicted the relationship between Min-su (acted by Kim Hye-sung) and his character, Seok-i. The following year, he acted in the drama Assorted Gems as the eldest son Gung San-ho or Coral. He became one of the main characters along with Go Na-eun, So Yi-hyun and Lee Il-min. He also played in Happiness in The Wind (2010), as Jang Min-guk. His character is curious, imaginative, always dreaming of being rich and always being the problematic son in the Jang Family.
In 2011, Lee Hyun-jin casted in drama Heartstrings along with Park Shin-hye and Jung Yong-hwa. For this role he became a talented singer who suffers from stage fright named Hyun Ki-young, but later overcomes it with encouragement from Kim Suk-hyun (played by Song Chang-eui). The next year, he played a second lead male in Operation Proposal, co-starred with Yoo Seung-ho and Park Eun-bin. The drama was a remake of Japanese Drama Operation Love. He acted as Kwon Jin-won, a former baseball hitter who had to give up his baseball career due to injury. He later became Park Eun-bin’s fiancé in the drama.
Lee Hyun-jin appears on some big screen films which are Mr. Idol (2011), Spellbound (2011) and Chubby Revolution (2012). In the latter film, he had his first leading role as Kang Do-kyung, a photographer who prefers chubby women. He acted opposite Lee So-jung, who was the lead female. The story was about a supermodel who tries to gain weight in order to gain her crush’s love. Lee Hyun-jin also appeared in other dramas like The Heirs (2013), Another Miss Oh (2016), Second To Last Love (2016) and Whisper (2017).
Lee Hyun-jin’s latest drama is Smashing on Your Back that aired from December 2017 to March 2018. The drama was a sitcom about a family that’s struggling to survive, living with the in-laws and dreaming of getting back up on their feet. In the drama, he co-starred with Park Young-kyu, Uhm Hyun-kyung and Hwang-woo Seul-hye. He acted as Lee Hyun-jin, the same name as his.
