Lee Seung Gi and Yoona met for the first time on the variety show Happiness in 10000 Won in October, 2007. Yoona appeared with her group, Girls Generation, where they delivered mission cards to artists who performed on the show. One of the artists was Lee Seung Gi. As both new artists, they met several times on music shows. Blessed with acting talent, they both received The 46th Baeksang Arts Awards for most popular Actor and Actress in Television.

Yoona appeared several times on SBS’s Strong Heart, which was hosted by Lee Seung Gi. In the show, Lee Seung Gi confessed that Yoona was his ideal girlfriend type. He confessed honestly and blatantly that he likes her to death. Standing closely side by side, Lee Seung Gi caressed Yoona’s long and beautiful hair.

On the first day of 2014, Korean celebrity news media, Dispatch, reported that Yoona and Lee Seung Gi were together for a secret date. Apparently, they had been a couple since September, 2013. In 2013, Lee Seung Gi returned from his concert in Japan. He picked up Yoona at her apartment, took her for a secret date in a café overlooking the Han River and took her back to her apartment. Yoona could be seen carrying a shopping bag when returning to her apartment. Both of their agencies confirmed their romantic relationship status and stated that they were in the early stages of a relationship.

Unfortunately, on August 13, 2015, Lee Seung Gi and Yoona’s romantic relationship came to its end. Almost two years since their reported Han Gang River date, they parted ways. Busy schedules were considered to be the main reason behind the end of their relationship. Yoona’s agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed the couple’s breakup and stated that they remained as friends.

Nam Joo-hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung


Nam Joo-hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung knew each other and had been friends since their early modeling days. They worked under the same agency, YG Entertainment. Nam Joo-hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung’s first joint appearance in a drama was tvN’s drama Cheese in the Trap. They played as supporting cast to lead roles played by Kim Go-eun and Park Hae-jin.

In 2016, they collaborated in the leading roles on MBC’s drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju. They played college students who were talented at weightlifting or swimming. While fighting for their sporting dreams, they developed feelings for each other. The drama received low ratings and ended after 16 episodes in January, 2017.


In April, 2017, keen fans spotted someone familiar in Lee Sung Kyung’s Instagram post. She posted a photo of a scene from a Coldplay concert. In the picture, a person was standing while holding on his ankle. Although the person’s upper body wasn’t pictured, the fans recognized that the person was Nam Joo-hyuk based on the person’s clothes. Earlier that day, he was pictured wearing clothes with similar patterns.

On April 24, 2017, online media reported that Nam Joo-hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung’s close friend relationship had turned into a romantic relationship. Later that day, their agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed the news.

After four months since the official dating announcement, it was revealed that Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk’s romantic relationship had come to an end. Busy schedules are said to be the main cause behind their separation. They maintain a close junior and senior relationship.

Jang Ki-ha and IU


IU and Jang Ki Ha met in 2013 through a radio program hosted by Jang Ki Ha, himself. He was visibly excited upon seeing her and said that everyone was struck by her beauty and don’t know what to say.

In October, 2015, Dispatch reported that Jang Ki Ha and IU had been dating since March, 2015. Despite their busy schedule, they found time to see and meet each other. They took turns visiting each other’s house; IU’s house was located in Yongsan while Jang Ki Ha’s house was located in Mapo District, Seoul. IU’s management agency, Loen Entertainment, confirmed their relationship and said that it had started two years ago. They developed feelings for each other due to their common interest in music. IU said it was love at first sight upon seeing Jang Ki Ha for the first time.

After dating for four years, Jang Ki Ha and IU decided to end their relationship. Around the middle of January, 2017, they called it quits. Before the eventual breakup, they had gone through cycles of breaking up and connecting several times. They said that the breakup process took them to the lowest point of their personal lives. IU’s agency, Loen Entertainment, and Jang Ki Ha’s agency, Dooroodooroo, confirmed the breakup and said that they remained in a senior and junior relationship.
