KittiB’s Appearance in Unpretty Rapstar 2

KittiB first appeared as one of the contestants of Mnet’s rap survival program, Unpretty Rapstar 2, the second season of Unpretty Rapstar and spin-off of Show Me the Money, in January 2015. In a pictorial and interview for bnt International, KittiB shared her thoughts about her time in Unpretty Rapstar 2. She said that Mnet actually contacted and recruited her first to be on the show, “Mnet actually contacted me first. I received a casting offer during season 1 but I didn’t answer the phone because I didn’t recognize the number. I think it was fate that I ended up on season 2 instead.”

She also shared about her life after the show. “People recognize me a lot more now,” she adds. “But I wouldn’t go on the show again. The program was hard on everyone’s physical and mental health.”

Her statement was not strange. The show has been known for its dissing performances, pitting one female rapper against another.

One of her notable performances during the show was when she had to face rapper Heize in a diss battle.

In the performance, KittiB was winning squarely, and even resulted in Heize forgetting some of her lyrics. KittiB was using Heize’s ex, Crucial Star, as the background music.

Along with the music, KittiB also filled it with strong lyrics:

Dahye-ta, you okay? You okay? It’s the song that must be familiar to you
Your rap without the heavenly editing sounds like hell
Hustle life? You squat everyday? You’re a liar
Your excuse for all those NGs were bad hearing but they all got edited out
Apparently, there’s someone who’s got your back?
You just rap, thanks to your pretty face, get out of here
Unrapstar, your singing is better than your rapping
You’re not my rival, everybody knows it
You’re now like the merry-go-round

Heize replied with a diss lyric about KittiB’s psych, to which KittiB replied:

it’s time to learn of when to stop, you skinny thing
Does unnie look like an idiot because she’s been smiling at you?
Giving you a break because you’re pretty, has now reached it’s limit
You’re the one who should have moved out earlier among here
But why are you smiling and acting like if you don’t know it?
Our levels are different, it’s embarrassing for me to have to deal with you
It’s way too easy, almost a spoiler even if I choke, I’ll knock you down
You need a lyrics-helper, even if your house is clean
Why don’t you just go up to your boyfriend and ask
“Ghostwrite for me, please?”

KittiB proved her talent and strong mentality with this performance. She even received praise from fellow contestant and close friend, FIESTAR’s Yezi. FIESTAR’s Yezi shared that she thought KittiB was the most skilled out of all the contestants. Although later, KittiB said that Yezi is the most talented rapper.

Another of her notable performances also included the time when she got into a small catfight with fellow contestants, Jessi, in the second episode of Unpretty Rapstar 2 which aired on September 18th, 2015. In that episode, the female rapper contestants competed against each other to claim tracks produced by rapper Verbal Jint. Contestants had to perform in front of 2,000 people in order to claim the track.

“I’m a pioneer in this field,” Jessi rapped when she charismatically appeared in front of the contestants. Then KittiB replied with a diss on Jessi saying, “If you’re going to rap in Korea, you should write Korean lyrics,” gets mentioned, Jessi responds, “You take care of your own rapping.”

KittiB eventually got second place to opponent Truedy in the final episode. Still, they both delivered a strong performance in the final.
