Are You Curious About Kim Nam-gil’s Recent News?
Mostly recognized as Bi-dam in MBC’s historical drama Queen Seondeok, Kim Nam-gil has made countless comebacks after his enlistment, starting with a melodrama with Son Ye-jin Shark, movies with Jeon Do-yeon (The Shameless), Chun Woo-hee (One Day), and veteran actor Sol Kyung-gyu and AOA’s Seolhyun (Memoir of a Murderer). However, it was only in 2017, through tvN’s Live Up to Your Name, that his name once again skyrocketed, thanks to his portrayal as the acupuncturist Heo Joon and his perfect chemistry with Kim Ah-joong.
But after his successful drama, Kim Nam-gil has been flying under the radar, which makes his fans curious about his whereabouts.
Kim Nam-gil’s Latest Drama
In 2018, Kim Nam-gil has been reported to be starring in the movie Strange Family. The comedy-horror film tells the story of a well-off family who is visited by a zombie. In this movie, Kim Nam-gil works along with other senior actors, such as Jung Jae-young and Uhm Ji-won. Besides the big screen, Kim Nam-gil is also going to star in SBS’ new drama Hot Blooded Priest. The actor received the offer in June, but didn’t accept the role until September. Contrary to the comedic yet serious role he played in Live Up to Your Name, Kim Nam-gil will act as Kim Hae-il, a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) special anti-terrorism member, turned Catholic priest with behavioral and mental disorders, who teams up with a cowardly detective (acted by Kim Sung-kyun) to solve the murder of an elderly bride.
Many fans anticipate Kim Nam-gil’s drama comeback since Hot Blooded Priest is written by the scriptwriter of The Good Doctor (starring Joo Won) and Chief Kim (starring Namgoong Min). Besides Kim Nam-gil and Kim Sung-kyun, former Miss-Korea-turned-actress Honey Lee is also going to act, as an excessively passionate prosecutor who is ambitious in everything she does, specifically described as “strong to the weak” and “weak to the strong”. According to the news site, Hot Blooded Priest will start to air in January, 2019.
Well, we surely can’t wait to watch Kim Nam-gil’s profound acting in his new projects!
