Kim Joo-hyuk’s Funeral
Kim Joo-hyuk’s agency, Namoo Actors, made a statement the day after the accident, saying that Kim Joo-hyuk’s wake would be held at Asan Medical Centre in Songpa-gu, Seoul, from 3 pm on Tuesday, October 31st, 2018, while the funeral would take place on Thursday. Kim was be buried at a family vault in Seosan City, in South Chungcheong Province.
Many took to social media to remember the late actor, in particular: how he always ensured that his female colleagues would share his screen credits.
The shocking celebrity death drew huge reactions among social media users in South Korea. On the country’s biggest search site, Naver, various trends surrounding the late actor’s death appeared.
One Korean social media user shared his grief on Twitter, in a tweet that resonated with more than 7,400 other users. “He’s a rare character that almost everyone liked,” he said. “Everyone remembers him as someone who respects others and that’s why I feel so empty today.”
Another Twitter user in Seoul praised his kindness saying: “The movies that Kim Joo-hyuk chose shed more light on his female leads than other actors. The films themselves were good but [what’s more inspiring] was his determination to continue choosing such [unique] scenarios.”
The news also hit many in the industry. Former colleagues of Kim Joo-hyuk, including the production team of the popular “2 Days & 1 Night” reality show, came forward to offer their respect. He had starred on the popular series, which showcased his relaxed and offbeat side, traits many didn’t expect from such a charismatic actor.
Many actors and actresses attended the funeral.
“We are deeply shocked and paying our condolences to Kim Joo-hyuk, who will forever be our member,” a public statement read.
Large arrangements of white flowers – the colour of mourning in Korea – lined the corridors, which were crowded with media and sobbing fans.
Kim Joo-hyuk’s death was one of the most searched words on South Korea’s Naver portal on Wednesday.
Kim Joo-hyuk’s Girlfriend After His Death
Actress Lee Yoo-young revealed her feelings about the death of her boyfriend, Kim Joo-hyuk, for the first time in public, while she was at her latest movie’s press conference. While taking questions about the movie, a member of the press asked the actress how she was doing since her boyfriend passed away.
She answered the question after a long pause and a deep breath. She said, “I still miss him. He would always encourage me warmly, so I think he would like to see me doing well anywhere I go. With that in mind, I’m trying to work hard and continue my career as an actress.”
