Long before his debut with TVXQ, Kim Jaejoong appeared on a television show with his supposed-to-be former girlfriend. The video was from an old show where random people in the streets of Seoul were surveyed about specific topics. In this particular episode, Kim Jaejoong and his possible ex-girlfriend were asked what they wanted to do the most when they entered college. Kim Jaejoong’s former girlfriend answered first that she wanted to stay up late and walk around wherever she wanted as well as visit a nightclub for the first time. Besides working as a celebrity, Kim Jaejoong, whose net worth is estimated to have reached $100,0000, also has ventured as a businessman. On August 12, 2017, he launched the mall KAVE in the Shibuya neighborhood in Tokyo, Japan, and invited big names such as B.A.P’s Yongguk and celebrity hairstylist Gunhee. The KAVE building has five floors with details on the first floor for men’s jewelry brand AVALANCHE, the second floor for KAVE Mall, the third and fourth floor for Cafe de KAVE, and the fifth floor for Lounge KAVE. In addition, the underground floor of the building is open for residence with a monthly cost of $1 million.
Back at the beginning of 2015, Kim Jaejoong was reported to have purchased a building in Seocho-dong, Seoul, near the Nambu Terminal for 7.5 billion KRW ($7 million). The building’s land is 5,000 square feet wide with a total ground area of 19,000 square feet, one underground garage level, and seven above-ground floors including 1-2 floors for eating and 3-6 floors of offices. Kim Jaejoong received a loan of 4 billion KRW ($3.7 million) to purchase the building, paid the rest in $3.3 million cash, and put the monthly rental income to 35 million KRW ($32,000). An expert in corporate buildings, Kim Yoon-soo stated that the building which Kim Jaejoong purchased won over the buildings in Gangnam with a rental income ratio that is 5% higher than the average so there is the possibility that the singer bought it for the lease revenue. Other than owning a mall and building in a busy area of Japan and South Korea, Kim Jaejoong also has two restaurants, namely Cafe J Holic in Myeongdong area, Seoul, which has moved to the Gangnam area in 2015 and Bum’s Story which serves mostly Japanese food and South Korean seafood.
Not only gaining profit from his personal business venture, Kim Jaejoong also put his creative side to use by being appointed as the art director of the fashion brand Moldir which has been established since September 2013. From the design and cloth selection process, he also participates in brainstorming during meetings and working with designers to come up with the finest designs and products.
In an interview, Kim Jaejoong shared, “In a flawless production, whether in music or acting, fashion is something that cannot be left out. Through the designs, I try to show the sensibility I have developed through my experiences as a singer and actor”. He also offered his design philosophy, “What I consider most important is the material. To create a design that is not just instant fashion with a short-term, consumptive feel, high-quality materials must be used, which is why I care about every single little detail”.
House and Car
In July 2018, Kim Jaejoong’s house was revealed for the first time on a Japanese broadcast station. His glamorous three-story house is estimated to cost $5 million, whereas the price for furniture and art pieces of Lee Ufan inside the place are not to be trifled with either since the range is from $9,000 to $200,000.
The mobility inside Kim Jaejoong’s house is far from slow as there is an elevator which is used exclusively by him. The house has four restrooms and has a staircase in front of the water closet to help whoever do their business better. In addition, the bathroom has a television so that Kim Jaejoong is able to watch shows while submerging in the bath tube. A secret room is also built on Kim Jaejoong’s house, in which he showed a mini cash machine from the said room.
As for his cars, Kim Jaejoong has his own personal parking lot which is filled with five cars from different famous brands. In total, the cost of Kim Jaejoong’s cars has reached more than $2 million.
