From Red Velvet’s Wendy to Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, Here’s K-Pop Girls Who Are Multi-talented Idols!

Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon

Hyoyeon was a member of the South Korean nation girl group, Girls’ Generation, and she was the lead dancer of the group. Despite her skills in singing, she has various other talents that encouraged her to focus on what she is passionate about. Below are listed the multitude of talents of Hyoyeon!

A Career As DJ HYO

Hyoyeon has the stage name DJ Hyo: she has been working as a DJ and has participated in music festivals and night clubs. She became active as a DJ in April 2018. Hyoyeon mentioned that she enjoys working in Singapore clubs since the crowd’s vibes are so hype and likable. She contributed as DJ in the music event Legacy Festival, played in 2 more nightclubs Zouk and Ce La Vie.

Hyoyeon stated, “They’re very reactive and attentive—they will sing along to the songs, even if there’s a change in music.”

As we know, Girls’ Generation now is not active since their hiatus, the members decided to each take her separate path in life. Mostly, the other members of Girls’ Generation chose to continue in the music industry as solo artists, commercial models, or actresses. Hyoyeon decided to approach music from a different angle; she was inspired to become a DJ because of her love for dancing.

Hyoyeon stated, “I have no interest in acting. I was always more drawn to music, but singing is the regular path idols take and I wanted to challenge myself to do something unconventional. I danced for a long time, and that is very related to music. And I wanted to learn more about the music I dance to, and I found it to be a very dynamic genre.”

She also expressed that the members also support her decision to become a DJ. Hyoyeon also explained, “The peak period for Girls’ Generation is over. But I continue to feel the love and support from my fans on social media. And I’m really glad about that.”

Hyoyeon debuted as a DJ with the track “Sober.” Recently, she released the song “Badster” as a DJ on July 20th, 2019. Let’s check out the MV below.

Female Dancing Machine

Hyoyeon got the nickname Dancing Machine as a result of her undisputed skills in dancing. She was the main dancer in Girls’ Generation. Hyoyeon has formal dance training that started in elementary school where she was taught different music genres, such as hip-hop, jazz, and Latin dance. Moreover, she also enrolled in Winners Dance School, a famous dance school in South Korea specializing in popping, locking, animation, and various other hip-hop styles in 1999. This experience also brought her the opportunity to perform on stage alongside BoA at the 2005 Mnet KM Music Festival before she debuted with Girls’ Generation. She can really dance amazingly and badass.

She expressed that when “I Got a Boy” was released she was very happy because the song was right up her alley, as it perfectly fit her style and vibe, compared to the other Girls’ Generation songs, which didn’t give her the opportunity to express her magnificent dancing skills. She is deemed one of the best dancers along with Yoona, Yuri, and Sooyoung.

With her dancing machine skills, she even got involved in the variety show Hit the Stage that gathered all the dancing machines coming from K-Pop girl groups and boy bands.
