Jung Woo-sung and Lee Ji-ah: What’s Their Relationship Now?
Actor Jung Woo-sung confirmed his breakup to actress Lee Ji-ah in May, 2011, after dating for three months. They got close during filming for the drama Athena: Goddess of War.
While they were dating, around April 2011, Lee Ji-ah shocked the Korean entertainment industry with her controversial marriage and divorce to the legendary singer, Seo Taiji. They were found to have gotten married in 1997, when Lee Ji-ah was only 16, and managed to keep their relationship hidden for over 14 years. The divorce lawsuit was finally settled in July, without any financial deals involved.
In November 2012, during the recording of MBC’s Knee Drop Guru, Jung Woo-sung revealed for the first time that he, in fact, knew about Lee Ji-ah’s marriage to Seo Taiji before it was made public in 2011. He said that he knew about her marriage because she told him about everything during their trip to France. It was before the media published the news about the divorce and legal hearings. His sudden confession shocked everyone on the set.
Jung Woo-sung said that Lee Ji-ah was sorry for not telling him earlier. She said that she didn’t know why she was telling him that, but her heart was opening up to him at the time. She revealed that she had a long history with someone in the past. Hearing her confessions made Jung Woo-sung glad, because he had solid proof that all of the crazy rumors since her debut weren’t true.
He added that they were just dating for about three months at the time, and it wasn’t like she could tell him every single detail about her past. It must have been harder for her to tell him because the media began to publish articles about their romantic relationship. He added that despite being in a difficult situation, she managed to tell him the truth and showed respect and courtesy as her man at the time.
Jung Woo-sung also revealed that his meaningful conversations with Lee Ji-ah were the ones that made him attracted to her. As they worked together in Athena: Goddess of War, they had a lot of time to talk and became very close.
Jung Woo-sung said that he didn’t think that Lee Ji-ah was guilty of anything, and when the scandal broke, it didn’t matter to him at all. He added that the only thing that he regretted was that the fact that she dated him caused her a lot of trouble, as well. He hoped that she didn’t worry about him and hoped that she took care of herself.
Jung Woo-sung also said that Lee Ji-ah was not guilty of anything. Even if she was, then it would only be the fact that she fell in love with the wrong man. He then asked if it was a sin to love someone. He also hoped that all the misunderstandings about Lee Ji-ah would resolve soon.
In response to Jung Woo-sung’s appearance in MBC Knee Drop Guru, Lee Ji-ah’s management thanked him, and glad that he helped clear up and clarify the misunderstanding about him and Lee Ji-ah.
Jung Woo-sung’s disclosures have helped shed light on what happened behind the controversies and, thus, cleared up some misconceptions about the actress. His appearance on the show became a popular topic afterward, and news about his statements and revelations quickly shot up the lists on various search sites.
