Contestants of Produce 101: Here’s Jung Chae-yeon and Lee Chae-yeon’s Journey Of Becoming K-Pop Idols

Lee Chae-yeon is a South Korean singer-songwriter and dancer who is currently signed under WM Entertainment and Off The Record Entertainment. She is well known as the main dancer of the project girl group IZ*ONE.

Lee Chae-yeon first began her career as an idol after participating as a contestant in the music survival show K-Pop Star 3 on November 24th, 2013, alongside her younger sister, Lee Chae-ryeong. Even though she was relatively young, Chaeyeon showed her amazing talent and ability in dancing and singing.

With their performances in the show, Chae-yeon and her sister attracted Park Jin-young’s attention with their extraordinary talents. However, she did not win the contest and was eventually eliminated. Despite being eliminated from the competition, Chaeyeon joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee. In JYP Entertainment, Chae-yeon underwent training for about a year, then she competed in Sixteen in 2015.

After being trained formore than a year as an idol under JYP Entertainment, on May 5th, 2015, Chae-yeon and her sister joined the television competition series by JYP Entertainment, SIXTEEN, which created the famous national girl group TWICE.

Unfortunately, Chae-yeon was eliminated during episode three and lost the chance to debut with the rest of the TWICE members. Shortly after, Chae-yeon left JYP Entertainment and joined WM Entertainment.

Joined Produce 48

Three years after participating in the survival show Sixteen, Chae-yeon joined another survival show as a participant, Produce 48. However, during the show, Chae-yeon became a representative of the WM Entertainment agency. At that time she had officially parted ways with JYP Entertainment. Since the first episode, Chae-yeon was able to amaze the judges and viewers by showing her talent in both singing and dancing.

During the audition for Produce 48, Chae-yeon amazed the judges and other trainees by performing “Singing In The Shower” by Becky G.

For the group battle of the show, Chae-yeon performed “Very Very Very” by I.O.I, alongside other trainees.

During position evaluation, Lee Chae-yeon chosen song for dance was “Sorry Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato.

During the concept evaluation, Chae-yeon was chosen to perform the original Contemporary Girls Pop song titled “1000%.”

Lee Chae-yeon’s hard work during her participation in Produce 48 brought good results. She made it to the finals and was ranked 12th, earning her the chance to debut as a member of the project girl group named IZ*ONE.

Debut as an IZ*ONE Member

As she ranked 12th in the final episode of Produce 48, Lee Cha-yeon officially debuted as a member of the girl group IZ*ONE. The group debuted on October 29th, 2018, with their first mini-album, Color*IZ, and its title track “La Vie En Rose.” In this 12-member group, Chae-yeon holds the positions of dancer and vocalist. In addition to South Korea, the group is also active in Japan.

On January 25th, 2019, IZ*ONE made their Japanese debut by releasing their debut Japanese single, “Suki to Iwasetai.”

On April 1st, 2019, the group released their second EP, titled Heart*Iz, with the song “Violeta” as the title track of the album.

On June 26th, 2019, IZ*ONE released their second Japanese single, “Buenos Aires.”

On February 17th, 2020, IZ*ONE released their first studio album, Bloom*Iz, and its lead single “Fiesta.”

On June 15th, 2020, the project group released their third mini-album, Oneiric Diary, and “The Secret of the Swan” was the album’s lead single.
