T-ara’s Former Member, Jiyeon
Park Ji-yeon (born June 7, 1993), better known as Jiyeon, is a South Korean singer and actress. She is was a member of the girl-group T-ara and its subgroup, T-ara N4.
Ji-yeon was born in Seoul, South Korea, on June 7, 1993, from a Korean family. She had attended Hyehwa Girls’ High School, before finally moving and completing her school at Lila Art High School in 2012. She and Hahm Eun-jung were two T-ara members who were trained in acting. However, they both switched to singing from their initial intentions.
Jiyeon has an interest in modeling. In 2008, when she was 15 years old, she appeared in several pictures and advertisements for the Smart clothing company with SHINee. She collaborated with Davichi and SeeYa on the digital single “Female Generation / Forever Love”, which was released in May, 2009, making her the first T-ara member to appear in the public. She appeared in the music videos of SG Wannabe’s “Saranghae” and “My Love is Crying” from their 2009 album, Prizes. From the start, the Korean media dubbed her “Little Kim Tae-hee” because of their similarities.
Jiyeon auditioned at he Mnet Casting System and joined the company in 2008. She then debuted as part of T-ara on July 29, 2009, as the youngest member. In 2010, Jiyeon appeared in the Master of Study, an adaptation for Korean screens from Japanese manga, Dragon Zakura. In the same year, she became the main character in the horror film Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp and starred in the youth drama Jungle Fish 2.
In October, 2010, Jiyeon was the presenter for MBC Show! Music Core, along with Bae Suzy, Choi Min-ho and Onew. She is also a member of the SBS Heroes variety program. In 2011, Jiyeon and Lee Joon from MBLAQ filled the voices for the animated film Gnomeo & Juliet. In 2012, she appeared in the teen drama Dream High 2.
Jiyeon made her solo debut in May, 2014, releasing the single “Never Ever” (also known as “1 Minute 1 Second”). The music video for the song won first place on the biggest music video site in China, YinYueTai, for two consecutive weeks.
In June, Jiyeon appeared in the MBC Triangle series, as the future wife of the character played by Im Si-wan. In the same month, she was a presenter on SBS MTV The Show with Lee Hye-ri.
In May, 2015, Jiyeon appeared at the Korea-China Meeting with actor Lee Dong-gun. In July the same year, she collaborated with Jun-hyung 2BIC on the song “Summer Love”. In 2016, Jiyeon appeared in web drama My Runaway with actor Kang Dong-ho. This drama aired on Netflix in December, 2016.
In February, 2017, it was announced that Jiyeon would be making a solo comeback after three years with a new album. However, the album’s preparation was later postponed.
