IZ*ONE’s Jo Yu-ri in Produce 48

In 2018, Yu-ri participated in yet another Mnet survival show, Produce 48, representing her agency, Stone Music Entertainment. She instantly captured the viewers’ and judges’ attention with her attractive bright smile and cute buns, while performing an NCT Dream song. She was able to attract attention with her husky voice. After the performance, she sang additional songs at the request of trainer Lee Hong-ki where she received good reviews from the judge and became one out of four trainees to receive an A.

In the re-evaluation of the grade, she forgot her choreography and for the first time in the product series, her grade fell drastically from A to F. Later, she then delivered a group performance with AOA’s Short Hair” and the performance became a hot topic and even ranked 4th in Naver’s real-time search word. At the first ranking evaluation, she received a total of 289,180 votes and ranked 19th.

Her ranking just started to rise in Episode 8 where she went from rank 19th to 10th, successfully entering the debut group line-up. It seemed like her fanbase was getting stronger, although later her ranking dropped 6 places to 16th place.

Despite the turbulence of ranking positions, in the end, she won third place in the debut line-up out of the 96 contestants who participated, with a total of 294,734 votes. Jo Yu-ri herself was too surprised by the ranking results, and she couldn’t say anything and was talking for a few seconds during the interview.

With that last rank, finally, she got a chance to debut with the show’s project group IZ*ONE along with 11 other members and signed a contract until 2021. The 11 other members are Jang Won-young, Miyawaki Sakura, Choi Ye-na, An Yu-jin, Yabuki Nako, Kwon Eun-bi, Kang Hye-won, Honda Hitomi, Kim Chae-won, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Chae-yeon.
