Hot Issue officially announced its debut date! On April 7, 2021, Hot Issue released the first teaser and new details for its upcoming debut. The group’s first mini album, ISSUE MAKER, was released on April 28, 2021, at 6 p.m.

Hot Issue is a girl group created by S2 Entertainment, a new agency led by Cube Entertainment’s co-founder and former chairman Hong Seung-sung who has successfully debuted popular groups such as 4Minute and BEAST.

The agency previously revealed that the “HOT” in the name stands for “Honest,” “Outstanding,” and “Terrific.” HOT ISSUE has 7 members, namely Nahyun who is also the leader, Mayna, Hyeongshin, Dana, Yewon, Yebin, and Dain who is also the maknae of the group.

On April 28, 2021, Hot Issue released their debut title song “GRATATA” which is a ratchet-style, up-tempo dance song with an impressive whistling sound with an edge, and the intense synth and percussion sounds add to the intensity of the song.

Hot Issue conveys strong energy and confident aspirations to capture the hearts of listeners by transforming into a sniper that captures the public through “GRATATA” which is also an onomatopoeic word for gunshots.

Hot Issue raised expectations by exceeding 5 million views in 4 days after the release of its song. The group then achieved 10 million views on the same day, breaking the record of the debut song “GRATATA” and proving that they will be a K-pop icon attracting attention around the world.

On April 29, 2021, Hot Issue held a showcase to commemorate the release of their debut album ISSUE MAKER at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The seven members were present at that time and presented a stage performance that seemed strong for a girl group. Girl groups usually debut with a cute and colorful concept, but Hot Issue brought another concept to the stage.

On April 29, 2021, Hot Issue held its debut stage on Mnet’s M Countdown that was very energetic and powerful. The seven members who debuted under S2 Entertainment looked very fierce while showing their dance skills at the intro stage before continuing their performance with “GRATATA.”

On April 30, 2021, Hot Issue held its debut stage that was aired on KBS’ Music Bank with its debut single titled “GRATATA.” Previously, the group performed an intro performance with very energetic dance moves, but at this stage, they immediately performed their debut single, and their outfits were on point and looked fresh.

On May 5, 2021, Hot Issue held another comeback stage that was aired on Show Champion. This debut stage looked different because Hot Issue appeared wearing different outfits of army costumes which were made very feminine and comfortable for each member to wear while dancing on stage.

On May 4, 2021, Hot Issue held its debut stage on The Show by performing “GRATATA” with the same concept as its debut showcase which included an intro and a performance of the debut title track. In this performance, Hot Issue looks different because they wear a new and more colorful concept than before

On May 23, 2021, Hot Issue held its debut stage and performed on SBS’ Inkigayo with its debut single titled “GRATATA.” This appearance looks different from the others because they appear in new costumes that look beautiful in soft pink and look more feminine than before with their very strong and fierce image.
