K-Drama Review: ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo’ The Life of a Female Weightlifter Who Isn’t Obsessed With Appearances

Being Yourself without Caring about The Opinions of Others, Is That The Right Thing?

In life, sometimes we think too much about what other people think about us. In fact, their opinions do not always provide solutions for us. Even though we have tried to give the best opinion to make them happy. However, some people just don’t like it. We don’t know what is on people’s minds when they see our behavior, some of the expressions I know they don’t like, even tend to hate us for no reason, even knowing or not knowing you doesn’t mean you’re bad.

Therefore, it can be said that we are born as ourselves. We are overdoing it, trying to make everyone happy. Why do you want to look perfect just because you are trying to be someone else? Want to be liked by many people even though you try hard to imitate others.

It’s always better to be yourself rather than trying to become someone else. Because when you become yourself you will be liked because you are what you are. That way you will be perfect in the eyes of others and will be appreciated by others.

Be yourself, because you are different from them or anyone. Never change yourself so that you do not reflect yourself. Never try to be someone else, because you have unique characteristics that no one has. Be yourself with your emotions and privileges.

If you see other people as so special that you want to imitate, so that you yourself look special in the eyes of others, what you are doing is wrong, if you really want to look special. Actually, you don’t need to be someone else and imitate other people, just do it according to yourself until someone sees that you are special without having to imitate others.

So don’t ever try to be someone else. Simply be yourself and other people will see in you that you are different. That you are unique and not the same as her, him or them. You are special in your own way and the uniqueness that you have. Because when you become yourself, you will be perfect yourself and perfect when other people like or even hate you.

Choose One: Love or Career?

This drama revolves around the life of Kim Bok-joo, she is a weightlifting athlete who achieves success in her teenage years. She lives a simple life with her father and uncle. Her father has a fried chicken restaurant and her uncle also runs the restaurant.

Kim Bok-joo’s style is super cool and she even doesn’t think about appearance. Everywhere and anywhere you can see her accompanied by two friends who always look compact, and they have a hobby of eating. She truly is who she is.

But Kim Bok-joo’s behavior suddenly changes when she meets Jung Jae-yi, a beauty doctor specializing in bodybuilding (losing weight). Kim Bok-joo, who had never before fallen in love, suddenly experiences the feeling of falling in love with Jung Jae-yi at first sight.

Kim Bok-joo, who is a weightlifting athlete, is determined to register as a patient at Jung Jae-yi’s clinic because she wants to meet with Jung Jae-yi. Surely, Kim Bok-joo is forced to lie to Jung Jae-yi about who she is. Because it is not possible for a weight lifter to lose weight. Here too, Kim Bok-joo is hit by turmoil, she is torn between the decision of choosing her career or love.

It turns out that Jung Jae-yi is Jung Joon-hyung’s older brother. Jung Joon-hyung is a swimming athlete and on the same campus with Kim Bok-joo. Actually, Jung Joon-hyung is a friend of Kim Bok-joo since elementary school, who was once helped by Kim Bok-joo when he fell from the top floor at that time.

Kim Bok-joo’s lies about her identity were discovered by Jung Joon-hyung and this becomes a fad for Jung Joon-hyung to meet Kim Bok-joo. Over time, Jung Joon-hyung’s fad makes him fall in love with Kim Bok-joo.

Here we can see how Jung Joon-hyung struggles to get Kim Bok-joo’s love, even though Jung Joon-hyung is a popular guy on his campus. Kim Bok-joo is insecure and could not believe that Jung Joon-hyung could actually like her, but slowly, Kim Bok-joo’s love for Jung Jae-yi disappears and gets replaced by Jung Joon-hyung.

The story doesn’t end there, there is still an antagonist role here. She is the gymnast Song Shi-ho and she is Kim Bok-joo’s roommate who is also Jung Joon-hyung’s ex-girlfriend.
