K-Drama Review: ‘On the Way to the Airport’ Follows a Glorified Love Affair Between Two Married Couples

The biggest conflict arises when Park Jin-seok and Kim Hye-won find out that their spouses have an affair. When Kim Hye-won finally meets Choi Soo-ah, she is furious and slaps Choi Soo-ah’s face. She even arranges a meeting for Seo Do-woo and Park Jin-seok. Afterward, she tells Seo Do-woo that she doesn’t want him to be in the same situation with Choi Soo-ah and tells him that she would let him go. Meanwhile, Park Jin-seok begins to suspect that his wife is having an affair. To avoid his suspicion and keep Choi Soo-ah by his side, he applies for a job abroad. He suddenly sends his mother to live with his sister in New Zealand and forcefully takes their daughter from Jeju Island to Seoul with him.

After sending Park Hyo-eun to New Zealand, finally, Choi Soo-ah has a chance to talk with Park Jin-seok. She asks him to part ways. She is about to tell him everything about Seo Do-woo, but he refuses and asks her to keep the words to herself. He says that what they are experiencing are hardships that need to be overcome. She firmly answers that it is not a question of hardships, but their relationship has already broken apart.

In the epilogue, it is shown that Kim Hye-won quits her studies and settles in Malaysia with Mary, Song Mi-jin is close to Kevin Oh (Park Jin-seok’s junior) and still feeds Choi Jae-ah (Choi Soo-ah’s younger brother), Choi Soo-ah is maintaining her close relationship with Park Hyo-eun with video calls and has become a trainer in her previous airline company, Seo Do-woo is working as an architect, Park Jin-seok has recovered and has returned to being a pilot, and Park Hyo-eun enjoys her life in New Zealand.
