Code Name Blue or better known as CNBLUE is South Korea’s top indie rock band. CNBLUE itself has 4 members consisting of Jung Yong-hwa (leader, vocals, rap, guitar, visual), Lee Jong-hyun (guitar, vocals), Lee Jung-shin (maknae, bass and rap) and Kang Min-hyuk. (drum).


CNBLUE first debuted in Japan in August 2009 with the mini-album ‘Now or Never’. Initially, CNBLUE debuted with 4 members namely Jung Yonghwa, Lee Jonghyun, Kwon Kwang-jin and Kang Minhyuk. But in September, Kwon Kwang-jin left CNBLUE and was replaced by Lee Jung-shin.

In early 2010, CNBLUE made its official debut in South Korea on January 14, 2010 with the release of the mini-album ‘Bluetory’, then the next day CNBLUE appeared on KBS ‘Music Bank’ to hold their first debut stage performance that was aired on television.

On May 19, 2010, CNBLUE released their second album in Korea with the title ‘Bluelove’. The lead single on the album is Love and successfully took first place on ‘M! Countdown’ and ‘Inkigayo’. This made CNBLUE even more famous and recognized for the quality of its music.






From 2014 to 2017, CNBLUE has released 3 mini-albums and 1 full album in South Korea. CNBLUE’s fifth album titled ‘BLUEMING’ was released in 2014. In 2015, CNBLUE released a full album titled ‘2gether’, and in 2016, CNBLUE released their sixth mini album titled ‘BLUEMING’ and their seventh mini album titled ‘7ºCN’ released last 2017.

The next drama that features Lee Jong-hyun as one of the roles is Puberty Medley. Aired in 2013, Adolescence Medley only amounted to 4 episodes. Jung-woo is a transfer student at a school called Namil High School in a village. Previously, Jung-woo (played by Kwak Dong-yeon) often moved schools because of his father’s job. Changing schools too often, Jung-woo became an invisible and friendless person.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name created by Seok Woo, this drama aired on KBS2 from June to July 2015. There are 12 episodes, each of which is about 50 minutes long. Orange Marmalade tells the story of a vampire life that is more modern and easier to get along with humans. Even the vampire formed a band with humans at his school.


Even though it is called uncomplicated with the webtoon version that was successful because of the low rating, this drama still proves Jong-hyun’s increasingly developing quality of acting. Being the second lead male, Jonghyun plays Han Si-hoo who must be included in the love triangle with Baek Mari (played by Seolhyun) and Jung Jaemin (played by Yeo Jin-goo).


The drama My Only Love Song made Jong-hyun the main character. Playing the character On Dal, a poor man who works odd jobs for money, Jong-hyun meets Gong Seung-yeon who plays Song Soo-jung who comes from the future. Released on Netflix on June 9, 2017, this 20-episode drama features a story of the love struggles of two people from different ages and the power conflicts that were common during the kingdom.


Girls’ Generation’s Lingerie, produced by KBS2, only aired 8 episodes, not a month. Starting its first episode on September 11, 2017, this drama ends on October 3, 2017. This time Jong-hyun presents a romance story between two people of different social status. Playing Joo Young-choon, he has a strong chemistry with Park Hae-jo, played by Chae Soo-jin.


Taking the concept of fantasy and romantic comedy, Evergreen presents a unique story by presenting a cupid figure with powder of love. There is also a magical tree which has an important role in this story. Acting as Oh Soo who is the main character, an IT genius who is also a barista at his family’s cafe, Jong-hyun is paired with Kim So-eun who plays a beautiful cop named Seo Yoori. This drama aired on OCN for 16 episodes from March to April 2018.
