CNBLUE is one of the most popular bands in Korea along with their agency mates FT ISLAND. CNBLUE’s name comes from CN (Code Name) and BLUE (which stands for Burning, Lovely, Untouchable, and Emotional). The words making up BLUE describe the images of four members, Jonghyun, Minhyuk, Jungshin and Yonghwa. The quartet made their debut in Japan with the release of their Japanese mini-album, Now or Never, in 2009. At that time CNBLUE’s bassist wasn’t Jungshin, but Kwangjin. However, Kwangjin left the group in late September and was replaced by Jungshin.
CNBLUE made their official debut in Korea on January 14 2010. They released their first Korean mini-album, Bluetory, and chose I’m a Loner as the title song. I’m a Loner peaked at Number 2 on the Gaon Digital Chart and also won on KBS’s Music Bank and SBS’s Inkigayo.
As a band who write their own songs, CNBLUE have recorded about 100 songs, including both their Japanese and Korean songs. To be exact, CNBLUE has released ten studio albums, ten extended plays (EPs), 33 singles, nine video albums, and 29 music videos.
CNBLUE songs always chart well on Korean and Japanese music sites, such as the Gaon Chart and the Oricon Chart.
