Solo Career
After the experience and fame he gained in CNBLUE, Jonghyun decided to brave the music industry by himself. Lee Jonghyun officially solo debuted in July 2016 in Japan. He released the album Sparkling Night. The debut album was a big hit as it debuted at number seven on Oricon Weekly Chart and number five on Billboard Japan Magazine’s Hot Albums.
Even though he only officially debuted in 2016, his fame in Japan preceded him, and he held his first solo fan meeting on August 2nd, 2015, at The Tokyo International Forum. The fan meeting was attended by an exceptional 10,000 fans.
He recently released another Japanese album titled Metropolis. The album was released earlier this year on January 24th, 2018. The album peaked at number 7 on the Oricon Chart.

Songs and Production
Other than being a talented bassist, Lee Jonghyun is also well known for actively taking part in composing songs for his band. Together with Jung Yonghwa, leader and bandmate, Jonghyun has composed a number of songs for CNBLUE such as “Blind Love”, “Lie”, “Rain of Blessing”, “Kimio”, “My Miracle”, “Come On”, “No More”, “These Days”, and many more. Most of these songs are well loved by CNBLUE’s fans (Boice) and the public, as can be seen from the high chart positions the songs are capable of taking.
Lee Jonghyun has also composed songs for himself such as the song “Get Away”, which was used as the ending theme song for the Japanese broadcast of Gossip Girl, a famous American TV Show.
In 2012, Lee Jonghyun released his own composed song with the title “My Love”. The song was a soundtrack for SBS’s drama A Gentleman’s Dignity, which he himself also starred in. “My Love” received a total of five nominations and won The 22nd Seoul Music Awards for Best OST.
Another self-composed song from Lee Jonghyun is the song “Love Falls”. The song was released in 2013 for his duet with former labelmate Juniel. The song was composed by Jonghyun and the lyrics were written by Juniel, and the song reached #27 on the Melon Chart.
Acting Career

Among the members of CNBLUE, Lee Jonghyun was one of the first members to step out of their comfort zone in music and into the world of acting. Jonghyun made his acting debut in 2010 through the omnibus film Acoustic. In the movie, he starred alongside his bandmate Kang Minhyuk.
Lee Jonghyun seems to like playing roles in front of the camera as he took on another role in 2012. This time, he took his acting to the small screen through the drama A Gentleman’s Dignity. Through this SBS drama, Jonghyun’s talent in acting was showcased and was even given an award, the New Star award, from SBS Drama Awards.
2015 was a busy year for Lee Jonghyun. In that year, he starred in the drama Orange Marmalade alongside his labelmate AOA’s Seolhyun. In the same year, he joined the fourth season of MBC’s reality show We Got Married. In the show, he was paired with actress Gong Seung-yeon.
He recently starred in a drama titled That Man Oh-soo. The drama is a romantic drama aired and produced by OCN and DramaFever. In the drama, he plays opposite Kim So-eun.
