Music Career

CNBLUE

After passing the audition to FNC Entertainment, Lee Jonghyun was put in a four-member band named CNBLUE, which is an acronym for Code Name: Burning, Lovely, Untouchable, and Emotional. The band started out as in indie band and made its first appearance in Tokyo, Japan, at the entrance of Shinjuku Station in early 2009. They made their official debut in Japan on August 19th, 2009, with the mini-album Now or Never. The mini-album is fully recorded in English but failed to chart on Japan’s music chart, Oricon Albums Chart.
During their time in Japan, the band did a lot of busking, performing in live clubs and on the streets. Although not yet officially debuted at that point, Jonghyun mentioned that those times were the most exciting times for him as he could learn a lot of things about life through all the ups and downs his band went through. During these times, also, Lee Jonghyun became the leader of the group as he was familiar with the Japanese language.
Lee Jonghyun’s music career officially started on the day of CNBLUE’s debut, January 14th, 2010. After spending a year in Japan as an indie band, the four-member band made its Korean debut with “I’m a Loner”. Immediately after their debut, they received their first music show award on KBS’s Music Bank and SBS’s Inkigayo on January 29 and 31 respectively. With roughly only fifteen days between their debut and award, CNBLUE became the group with the shortest interval to receive an award after debut.
With CNBLUE, Lee Jonghyun has held concerts all over Asia and even the world. In 2010, they held their first Asian Tour titled ‘Listen to the CNBLUE Asia Tour’. Their humongous fame in Japan also made the group a frequent holder of dome concerts there. CNBLUE held their first World Tour in 2013, visiting sixteen countries in a year’s time.
