In this article, we’re going to explore the details of CL’s future plans after leaving YG Entertainment and her comeback with new songs! Let’s not wait any longer and find out in the article below!
CL’s Story With YG Entertainment
CL has the birth name Lee Chae-rin, was born in Seoul, South Korea, on February 26th, 1991. During her childhood, CL spent time in Japan and France because of her father’s work which required him to temporarily stop in several countries.
It was also rumored that CL had undergone training at JYP Entertainment and around the age of 15 she finally debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009 under YG Entertainment. CL debuted with 3 other members, Park Bom, Dara, and Minzy with their debut song, “Fire.”
2NE1’s debut was not an easy matter and it immediately drew a lot of attention from the public, especially fans in South Korea. Some of the comments on 2NE1’s debut say that this group is not a group consisting of beautiful women who comply with the visual standards for members of a girl group.
In addition to criticism from the public, Yang Hyun-suk as CEO of YG Entertainment at the time also suggested that 2NE1 members undergo plastic surgery and get the best visuals to support their performance in public. When they debuted with “Fire,” 2NE1 also used a Hip-Hop concept which was very different from the other K-Pop girl groups in that era.
However, as time went by, 2NE1 got a positive response because of their charisma when performing live and they also received more attention from international fans because their concept was completely different from the others. 2NE1 also got their first concert, Nolza, in 2011 when they became popular with one of their hit singles, “I Am The Best.”
In 2012, during the era “I Love You,” 2NE1 began to target its promotions in America and introduced their music genre and concept as a girl group internationally. This opportunity was a very special thing and very much awaited by overseas fans because 2NE1 finally promoted internationally. It was also easy because 2NE1 members were on average fluent in English and they were believed to be promoting well in America.
2NE1 became one of the most popular girl groups among international fans because their concept was finally liked by fans who also loved the Hip-Hop genre, RnB, and especially things far from the cute image of K-Pop girl groups in general. After overseas promotions, 2NE1 also held a concert around the world with the ‘All Or Nothing World Tour’ (2014) and this was the last 2NE1 concert before they disbanded and the members started a solo career.
As a leader, CL was a good leader because she could position the three members equally and they all would get equal attention from the fans both in South Korea and internationally. You could say that CL was a charismatic leader and had very high energy when she had to perform on stage with 2NE1 members or solo stage.
Many of the fans really want CL to get the chance to become a solo artist and perform as herself, who has an image of a fierce woman, swag and full of charisma. In addition, CL has her own aura and ability to make the crowd watching her performance more enthusiastic and enjoy her music.
CL got the biggest opportunity in her career life, especially when she got the chance to become a solo artist. CL was offered to join the management of Scooter Braun who overshadows popular artists from Hollywood, such as Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and many more.
The appearance of CL on Ariana Grande’s music video, “I Really Like You,” and their mutual show of intimacy is a moment that fans have been waiting for because the appearance of CL after 2NE1 was announced disbanded was like a signal and sign that the singer who often collaborates with G-Dragon will release a new song after she joined the management of Scooter Braun in America.
After waiting for almost a year, the 2NE1 leader appeared as a featured singer in the song of Diplo x CL x RiFF RAFF x OG Maco titled “Doctor Pepper.” The song was released in May 2015 and after that CL just got her chance as a solo singer in America by releasing the single “Hello Bitches” in November 2019. The song was one of CL’s most successful songs when she debuted as a singer in America with the theme ‘The Baddest Female.’.
In August 2016, CL released her latest single titled “Lifted.” Initially, the fans were very enthusiastic and excited because CL came back with a new music video and she had a chance to attend The Late Late Show with James Corden by presenting her new song.
Besides that, CL held a concert in America and visited several cities in Europe with the tour ‘Hello Bitches Your’ at the end of 2016. After CL’s solo concert, she released several songs featuring Lil Yachty in “Surrender” and also for the soundtrack of My Little Pony: The Movie, titled “No Better Feeling.” Besides her career as a singer, CL also had the opportunity to debut as a cameo actress in a Hollywood movie titled Mile 22.
CL also appeared in The Black Eyed Peas music video, “DOPENESS,” which was released in 2018 but actually the song and shooting for the music video were done around 2014. Besides appearing in the music video, CL also sang several parts in the song released on October 25th, 2018.
In 2019, there was the latest news from CL that she would be featured in one of the PKCZ songs titled “Cut It Up.” CL also appeared in the music video with her latest performance, which has become a cure for the fans in South Korea and internationally.
