Later, he made his debut in 1989 with the drama movie Kuro Arirang. Choi, Han Seok-kyu, and Song Kang-ho are best friends because they graduated from the same university, Dongguk University. They remain best friends until now and became top actors together.

Choi rarely acts in dramas. His last drama is Miss and Mister in 1997. In the movie, most of Choi’s character is the antagonist.
