Choi Joon-hee said that the police had come to their house. The police subsequently gave an update into the circumstances surrounding the post, saying that Choi Joon-hee and her grandmother had gotten into a fight and Choi Joon-hee’s brother had called the police.
The police stated, “Choi Joon Hee and her maternal grandmother got into an argument over cleaning up after a dinner meal and the fight became physical. Neither side wished to pursue punishment so we closed our inquiries at the scene without officially handling the case.” They continued, “We will be questioning Choi Joon Hee and the people around her about her statement that she was abused. Right now Choi Joon Hee is with a friend’s family and told us she is still emotionally shaken, so we have not conducted an official investigation yet.”
Choi Jun-hee said she would record the KBS program See-Through TV Inside on Aug. 17 to share the details of an alleged conflict with her grandmother. Unfortunately, the episode is delayed because the situation between herself and her grandma has yet to be resolved. The date when the episode will be aired has not been decided.
Choi Joon-hee was admitted to a hospital in Seoul on August 8, she was discharged three days later on August 11. After being discharged from the hospital, Choi Joon-hee did not return home to her brother and maternal grandmother. Instead, she decided to stay with her grandaunt, a close family friend who is not directly related to her by blood but raised her since she was born. She is currently staying there while the police have been trying to contact Choi Joon Hee’s grandmother to hear her side of the story.
In 2010, Swings had featured in a track by rapper BIZNIZ titled “The Uncomfortable Truth”. Truth is ‘jin-shil’ In Korean, and Swings had rapped, “The uncomfortable truth (jinshil)? You guys are Hwan Hee and Jun Hee. There’s no truth (jinshil), just you guys.”
The lyrics had been met with incredible criticism, with listeners demanding to know if Swings was in his right mind to use such a tragedy in his rap and even disrespect the family and children.
However, Choi Joon-hee saw the lyrics on Facebook and commented on it, saying “I’m sorry, and I know it’s wrong to bring up the past, but the people that have to live with the hurt are me and my brother. I honestly can’t understand how people can say it’s all in the past. I don’t watch ‘School Rapper’ because of Swings, and I don’t watch most rap-related things. I get so mad whenever I see him, and in his apology he said he didn’t know it would be painful. Back then, I didn’t know because I was young, but if I think about it now, isn’t it just ridiculous from my point of view and my family’s point of view? Even if it’s in the past, the anger and pain remain the same. If you ask why I’m still mad, it must be because you’ve never thought from my point of view, right?”
Swings had apologized for the usage and said it was not his meaning to disrespect or hurt the family, and faulted himself for not fully putting himself in the family’s position.
