Park Cho-a was born on March 6, 1990, in Incheon, South Korea, and is better known by the name Choa. She is a South Korean idol singer and actress. She wanted to major in music at university but her conservative father wanted her to get a normal job, so she enrolled in Aviation Business Administration in Inha Technical College. She also worked as an IPTV salesperson, during which time she secretly auditioned to be an idol, failing the audition at S.M. Entertainment 15 times.

Her first step in becoming an idol was when she met Juniel and found out about FNC’s auditions for their girl group, AOA. She is best known as a former member of the girl group AOA, which debuted in 2012 under FNC Entertainment. She was also an MC in the variety show We Got Married.

Debut with AOA ‘Ace of Angels’ on 2012


Choa debuted with the other AOA members on June 30, 2012, under FNC Entertainment with the song “Elvis”, which was the main part of the single “Angel’s Story”. They first promoted the song on the M! Countdown stage on August 9, 2012. Two months later, they released their second single entitled “Wanna Be.”

Comeback with AOA in 2013


Quite successful with their debut, AOA finally formed a sub-unit under the name AOA Black, which was conceptualized as a band. The sub-unit was filled by Choa (Vocalist and guitarist), Jimin (Leader, Rapper, and Guitarist), Yuna (Vocalist and Keyboardist), Youkyung (Drummer), and Mina (Bassist, Rapper, and maknae). AOA Black debuted on July 26, 2013, with debut single “Moya”. After promoting their sub-unit, AOA came back with their third single, “Red Motion”, on October 15th.

Comeback with AOA on 2014


On January 16, 2014, they returned with their newest song, “Miniskirt”. Thanks to the song they gained popularity and the song managed to occupy the first position on the SBS Inkigayo stage on February 9. This was their first music program victory since their debut in 2012. Successful with the new concept, AOA finally launched their first mini-album, titled ‘Short Hair’, which was released on June 19, 2014. While the second mini-album, ‘Like a Cat’, was released 5 months later on November 11. AOA also debuted in Japan with the single “Miniskirt” on October 1, 2014.

Comeback with AOA in 2015


AOA again released their third mini-album, titled ‘Heart Attack’. The mini-album was released on June 22, 2015, with the concept of “Sporty”. The song managed to occupy the first position on MBC Show Champion, SBS The Show, and Music Core.

Comeback with AOA in 2016


At the beginning of 2016, AOA came back and AOA Black also issued their latest work. However, towards the end of January, AOA formed a new sub-unit, called AOA Cream, with members Yuna, Hyejeong, and Chanmi. AOA Cream debuted on February 12 with the song “I Jelly Jelly Baby”. Four months later, on May 16, AOA re-launched their fourth mini-album, titled ‘Good Luck’. On October 15, 2016, Yookyung was known to leave the agency and the group because her contract had expired. Even so, Yookyung was committed to helping when AOA Black came back in the future.

Comeback with AOA in 2017


Since its debut in 2012, AOA has not ever released their first full album. After waiting four more years, finally, AOA launched their first studio album, titled ‘Angle’s Knock’. The album was officially released on January 2, 2017, with 2 songs, entitled “Bing Bing” and “Excuse Me”.
