Jungkook and Cha Eun-woo in the 97 Liner Group
The friendships of several male K-pop idols born in 1997 have become an open secret among fans. Coming from different groups and agencies, they are united with the number 97 which is their birth year and, and they often gather together on various occasions.
After having a reunion on December 18, 2018, at KBS’ Song Festival 2018 (Gayo Daechukje), 97 liners were reunited even though they were incomplete. This can be seen from Seventeen’s Mingyu uploading on his Instagram account on March 5, 2019.
From the photo, it appears Seventeen’s Mingyu, ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo, GOT7’s Yugyeom, and BTS’ Jungkook are enjoying a meal together. They pose for the camera in front of the dining table which still looks full of food.
“97 ~ meat, bowling, wine (Cha Eun-woo ate rice and then ran away),” wrote Mingyu as the photo caption.
It seemed they had spent time together bowling, eating meat, and drinking wine. From the photo description that Mingyu wrote, it seems that Cha Eun-woo couldn’t be with them any longer so after eating, the ASTRO member left.
Of the two uploaded photos, Mingyu also tagged his photo to Yugyeom and Cha Eun-woo’s account. The reason is, Jungkook doesn’t have an Instagram account like his friends.
The 97 liners met on KBS’ Song Festival 2016 when they made a special performance. At that time, they collaborated with several female idols who were also born in 1997.
From there, their closeness was established as close friends. In fact, they also created a special chat group that only contains 97 liners. The 97 liners consist of Seventeen’s Mingyu, DK and The8, GOT7’s Yugyeom and Bambam, BTS’s Jungkook, NCT’s Jaehyun, and Astro’s Cha Eun-woo.
