It’s cute and it’s TWICE! TWICE has been known for its cute concepts. But, behind that cheerfulness, the songs also give strength to their listeners, especially ONCE members, TWICE‘s fandom. After their debut in 2015, they soon entered the entertainment industry in Japan with “One More Time” in 2017. A year later, three years after TWICE’s debut, they also released the Japanese single “Candy Pop.”

MV of “Candy Pop”
The MV of “Candy Pop” is quite interesting. In this MV, TWICE’s members act as animated idols who can only be seen on television. Besides TWICE, the main hero of this MV is a girl who watches TWICE as animated idols. The girl looks at the calendar and she looks sad while TWICE is facing some difficulties as they are nagged for their performance.
They then change into humans, thus symbolically representing the fact that they are human and not the ideal version that people thought they were when they were animated. However, eventually, the human TWICE members are being chased by policewomen who are trying to bring them down. TWICE then is saved by a car that is driven by JYP, and they see the sad girl who watches them. Then, they visit the human world and give candy to the girl while they are happily together.
The animated music video of “Candy Pop” is directed by Takahiko Kyogoku in collaboration with Naïve Creative Production while the storyline is written by Park Jin Young. It should also be noted that there’s a hidden character that is illustrated by Chaeyoung. The music video of “Candy Pop” ranked 6th on the 2018 YouTube Top Trend Music Videos in Japan.
