BTS at After School Christmas Edition, Ep. 191
On December 22, 2015, BTS celebrated their Christmas by becoming the special guests on the After School Club (ASC) Christmas Edition, guided by Eric Nam and Jimin. The show allows international fans to interact live through social media (they can join the live broadcast with their idol or just send tweets for them).
When BTS first entered, They showed up looking excited and cute with Christmas accessories, and brought a bag full of gifts for their fans. As always, J-Hope was the most excited person among all members.
In this show, BTS did some requests from fans around the world, either via twitter or live broadcast, and answered some questions from fans.
The first question was asked by a fan from Tunisia, “Rapmon, are the boys learning more English?” and RM replied, “Yes, but not really but actually, they don’t try. They used to spend every my responsibility because I’m in charge of it so they just let it be.”
But Suga claimed that he was educated in Korea, so he can read and write to a certain extent but he finds it difficult to speak English. Suga’s most confident phrase is “How are you? I’m fine, thank you. And you?” XD
Next question was from Poland, “Do you celebrate Christmas? What do you wish for your family?” And Jin said they were having a concert with their family, a.k.a, their fans, ARMY. Suga also added that BTS is a family, since they aren together 24/7.
Then they received a request to dance to girl-group dances! J-Hope, as the main dancer, never disappoints us. He danced to Hot Pink, by EXID, while Jungkook, our Golden Maknae, danced to Like Ooh-Ah, by TWICE.
The dancing was followed by another question, “Does BTS ever search themselves on Google?” and Jimin said he does it sometimes (the most among them). J-Hope also said Jimin is a very common name in Korea, and Jimin said his name comes up first. It didn’t come up first before, but now it’s his name.
In addition to twitter, but they also communicated with their fans by live streaming.
The first ARMY who got lucky was from Ireland. She asked “Who got tired first while making “RUN” MV?” and all members, with one voice, said, “its Suga”, because he is the granddaddy of BTS.
The other lucky ARMY was from Estonia, and she asked, “Which is a scene was the members’ favorite scene?” and all members agreed it was a scene when they eat a hamburger.
Last, but not least, was an ARMY from Florida, who asked, “Since BTS perform all over the world. We’re you wondering if you notice there are any differences between fans from other countries?” J-Hope said, “Korean ARMYs are full of fan chant, Japan ARMYs just listen and enjoy peacefully, while in the States or in Latin America, they are little more active, feel the music, and get into it.”
During the next segment, they spoke about what gifts they wanted. Jimin said he wanted to get snow from Santa this year, because he didn’t get to see a lot of snow since he’s from Busan. It hasn’t snowed a lot since 2002. Suga who just wanted Santa Claus to be healthy.
Near the end of the show, BTS prepared a special present to their ARMY around the world. The present was that BTS would do some requests that had been sent in, and some will be drawn. Here are some of the requests they received:
- Do a slow version of I NEED U choreography and sped-up version of DOPE
2. Fan chant of DOPE and RUN
3. Sing Christmas carols for the fans. They sang “Last Christmas”
4. Imitate each other
And before the show really ended, they gave some fans around the world real gifts from the members, which they picked themselves. They closed the show with their wishes for next year and took a picture together with the MC.
It’s a meaningful gift for International ARMY because BTS took the time to spend with them. ❤
“RUN” Christmas Version
On December 23, 2015, ARMY were surprised by notifications from BANGTANTV (BTS YouTube Channel). The group had uploaded “RUN” in a Christmas version. In that video, all members lipsync to the song while wearing Christmas accessories and many cute expressions. They seemed to really enjoy filming this video!
Many ARMYs were pleased to see them looking so happy! Thank you BTS!
BTS Christmas Gift Party
On December 24, 2016, precisely on Christmas Eve, BTS did their V Live so they could spend their Christmas Eve with ARMY. The V Live began with the seven members appearing in cute Christmas outfits, and dad jokes from Jin. They also prepared a cake and blew out the candle together to celebrate Christmas.
In the middle of their V Live, Suga shared that they went on a trip to Santa Claus Village in Finland (Bon Voyage Season 1), and wrote a letter to other members, but the letters hadn’t arrived yet. They even asked ARMY who lived in Finland to help them get their letters. They continually talked about their little experience in Santa Claus village.
They continued their V Live, explaining what they’d do. They would play Secret Santa on this V Live, and had already prepared gifts for other members. Secret Santa means “No one knows who will have what, and the receiver doesn’t who their gift came from.” They bought gifts that didn’t exceed 10,000 won, and they wrote a letter to go with the gifts they bought. Suga, however, bought something that cost more than 10,000 won.
They decided to play rock-paper-scissors to determine the order, but it would take a long time. Since the gifts were different sizes, they decided to do an auction, then continued with rock-paper-scissors. After the members all got their gifts, they opened them and guessed who the gifts were from.
The following are the gifts received by members, and the contents of the letters they received:
Jungkook got fabric deodorizer from V, and V wrote: “My baby might smell something weird at night.”
It’s known that Jungkook is sensitive to odor. He said he liked the smell, the smell is like soap. He also said it was his style and he couldn’t help being curious.
Jimin got 3 pairs of blue underwear, size large, from J-Hope with the letter “My dear brother, Merry Christmas! If you get this gift, be equipped with this during the tour next year and perform on stage. It will bring you good luck. Happy new year to us and fighting!”
Jimin appreciated the gift, so he said he would make them small and wear them.
RM got beef jerky, wet wipes, and squid from Jin, with the letter “I hope that u will feel happy with these goodies. good luck for the entire year and be happy.”
The reason why Jin bought it was because it made him think of RM while was shopping. He remembered seeing RM enjoying beef jerky and squid in Japan. And because RM always drops things, he also bought him wet wipes.
Jin got an acrylic stand from Suga, with a message “Put it in the bag and take a look at it whenever you want to. Merry Christmas!”
Suga bought it at the company, saying company gave him a member discount. Suga also said he hoped that Jimin or J-hope would get it, because Suga thought that they’d carry it around. He said that, at first, he wanted to buy underwear but the staff told him that someone already had, so Suga asked about what should he do, and they told him to buy the acrylic stand.
V got a bag of snacks from the convenience store from Jimin, with a sweet letter that said “You might be busy at the end of the year. I hope that you eat a lot and cheer up.”
Next was Suga. He got Vitamin C slice gummies from Jungkook. Jungkook said “Take care of yourself. I bought it for you to eat them conveniently.” (Yeoksi, uri maknae ❤)
V mentioned that he also gave the same thing to RM.
Last, but not least, was J-Hope, who got two pairs of black, short underwear with the right size from RM! (Proves that karma is real! XD)
RM said “Underwear. Why I chose them? Because we need it the most. How to use it? Just as what you think.” he also said that’s what J-Hope asked for.
Before the V Live ended, they voted for the worst gift. Suga’s acrylic stand was chosen as the worst gift. They closed their V Live when the viewers are more than 500,000, by making an acrostic poem of Merry Christmas (Yup, it was Jin ideas).
