Calling Out All Melodys To Learn About BTOB’s Performances on ‘Kingdom’

BTOB’s “No Limit” Performance Featuring (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon

On May 27, 2021, Mnet’s Kingdom: Legendary War completed the third round of the competition ahead of its upcoming live finals. For the second half of Round 3, each of the six competing groups performed a “No Limit” themed performance, meaning that the groups were free to perform any song they chose and feature the artist they liked.

After iKON and Stray Kids started their battle in the previous week’s episode, BTOB, ATEEZ, SF9, and THE BOYZ took to the stage for their thrilling performances. BTOB put a cinematic spin on “Blue Moon” alongside a special performance from (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon.

Miyeon is described as an actress who is dating Minhyuk. But, for the sake of acting demands, she had to have an intimate scene with Changsub. The three of them put on an intimate enough appearance to detail the tense relationship.

When it reached its peak, Minhyuk and Miyeon looked at each other affectionately. The other participants in the waiting room looked very tense and panicked because they thought they were going to kiss.

But, instead of a kiss, Minhyuk and Miyeon hugged passionately instead. That’s why the other contestants immediately laughed in relief. The moment is, of course, an interesting entertainment for fans. They finally gave various comments such as the following:

“The way they panicked when they thought Minhyuk and Miyeon were going to kiss felt like the pinnacle of comedy to me hahaha,” wrote a netter. “Hey, I panicked when I saw it too. Really, I made the same expression as them,” added the other netters.

“They panicked and ended up laughing as if they never expected anything else hahaha,” said another netter. “Bobby is so funny when he’s panicking hahaha,” said another. “The truth is, they were really waiting for the kiss scene haha,” concluded the other netters.

As previously announced, Kingdom contestants were awarded points during the competition based on the following criteria: votes by the six competing groups (25%), evaluation by a panel of 30 experts (25%), domestic and global fan votes (40% ), and the number of video views (10%).

Although the fan votes and video views for the second half of Act 3 which totaled 50% of the contestants’ scores had not yet been counted, the six competing groups cast their votes immediately after the show. Meanwhile, a panel of 30 expert judges conducts evaluations at the same time.

As a result, with 50% of the group’s score still unclear, Kingdom revealed preliminary results based solely on votes by the six competing groups and evaluations by a panel of experts with each accounting for 25% of the final score (adding a total of 50%).

The overall starting rankings for the second part of Round 3 (subject to change once fan votes and video views had been counted) were SF9, Stray Kids, BTOB, THE BOYZ, iKON, and ATEEZ.

On May 6, 2021, BTOB’s Minhyuk was chosen as the King of Visuals or the most handsome contestant in Kingdom. The decision started when the production team held a sports day to give the participants a nice rest. In the event titled “Kingdom Athletic Championship,” ATEEZ, BTOB, and Stray Kids competed against The Boyz, SF9, and iKON.

ATEEZ managed to take first place in the group relay race. The team consisting of ATEEZ, BTOB, and Stray Kids also won the head and tail game where the idols struggled to blow up the other team’s balloons. That’s why they finally came out as winners of the “Kingdom Athletic Championship.”

During the lunch break, the participants were also asked to vote for the contestant they considered the King of Visuals or the most handsome. Each idol was given one vote, and they were allowed to vote for themselves.

When the results were calculated, the MCs jokingly named the show “Kingdom F4.” BTOB’s Minhyuk won first place, Stray Kids’ Felix was second, The Boyz’s Sunwoo was third, and The Boyz’s Hyunjae and BTOB’s Eunkwang were fourth.

Meanwhile, the episode also revealed the complete results of the battle in the second round. This time, Stray Kids mastered the 2 existing assessment parameters, namely the rating category for the number of video views and domestic and global fan voting. At the end of the competition, the group with the highest score would emerge as the winner. They are entitled to a prize of “Kingdom Week” which includes their own Mnet reality program as well as a special program.

A few months after Mnet’s Kingdom: Legendary War ended, BTOB managed to amaze the audience in this survival show, and BTOB also became the oldest idol group to fight their 6 juniors, namely iKON, SF9, The Boyz, Stray Kids, and ATEEZ.

At the beginning of determining the participants for Kingdom: Legendary War, BTOB itself was reportedly refusing to appear due to their busy schedules. However, it was soon confirmed that they decided to join forces.

In a new interview with the magazine Arena Korea that was released on July 23, 2021, BTOB confessed that they were disappointed in each other because they were reluctant to join Kingdom: Legendary War. They admitted that they had a lot of concerns before deciding to join.

“[There was mutual disappointment] when we almost refused to appear in Kingdom: The Legendary War,” Minhyuk said. “Oh, thank God we finally did it,” Eunkwang said. “We were worried, I know. We felt we lost more than won, we’ve debuted for years now. So we need extra courage to say ‘yes’ on survival shows but I just really want to do it, even if we have all these worries,” explained Minhyuk.

Changsub revealed that he was the most against joining Kingdom: Legendary War. However, he finally softened up because he saw Minhyuk was so determined to take part in an event.

“To be honest, I was against it until the last minute. I changed my mind because I’ve never seen Minhyuk hyung push something desperately before,” Changsub admitted. Minhyuk confessed that Changsub‘s decision was the one that moved him. The funny thing is, Eunkwang and Peniel actually teased Minhyuk by revealing that Changsub was only selling high prices.

“That’s why I chose that moment [Changsub accepted the offer] when the digital interview asked when was the last time I felt touched,” Minhyuk explained.

Eunkwang teased, “I think it touches you more because he has endured for so long. I’m sure he did it on purpose, to make you feel that way.” Then, Peniel chimed in by saying, “Ah, he played hard to get you.”

“Earlier today, we were notified that a dancer who participated in the recording for Kingdom on May 4 has tested positive for COVID-19.
