Born To Beat! Get To Know The Rising Group BtoB!

BtoB (비투비; acronym for Born to Beat) is a South Korean Boy Group consisting of 7 members: Seo Eun Kwang, Lee Min Hyuk, Lee Chang Sub, Im Hyun Sik, Peniel Shin, Jung Il Hoon, and Yook Sung-Jae. They debuted in 2012 under Cube Entertainment with Insane and Imagine.

Despite debuting under a mid-sized agency that produced popular groups such as 4Minute (former girl group), B2ST (former boy group, now a.k.a HIGHLIGHT under different agency), and APink, BtoB was widely known as the least popular group because their hiatus after their debut was too long. They have also consistently gone on six month breaks since their rookie days.

But the group’s popularity skyrocketed after they made a major shift from unclear concepts to a ballad concept in 2015. After that, they took the following years by storm, with some of their hit ballad tracks soaring to the top of both music and video charts, BtoB has been earning awards and becoming a lot more popular.

BtoB’s Awards and Nominations in 2015

BtoB rose to fame in 2015 after they released their first full-length album ‘Complete’. The group’s transition to releasing ballad music achieved success for the group, earning them multiple nominations for year-end awards in South Korea.

Melon Music Awards

As one of South Korea’s largest online music stores, Melon has total of 23 different awards divided into four broad categories: Main, Popularity, Music Style, and Special Awards. Organized by LOEN Entertainment through its online music store, BtoB hasn’t earned any awards from this show yet, the group has only received praise and a nomination in 2015.
