Boys Republic

Let’s Meet With Boys Republic!

There’s a lot of popular boy bands from South Korea, but this time we’re going to talk about Boys Republic! Ever heard of them? Basically, Boys Republic is one of the boy bands based in South Korea that rose to stardom under Universal Music Group, and they had already started their career in 2013. Members of Boys Republic consist of Onejunn, Sunwoo, Sungjun, Minsu, and Sunwoong.

Not only they are hugely successful as a boy band, but Boys Republic also received an endorsement from Jeju Air in 2013 with one of their singles, “Orange Sky.” Since their debut with the single “Party Rock,” Boys Republic received a lot of attention from people, and kept on lifting up their name in the K-Pop industry. But sadly, in 2018 Boys Republic announced their indefinite hiatus from the K-Pop industry.

In this article, Channel-Korea will introduce you with the cheerful Boys Republic and everything you need to know about their indefinite hiatus!

Debut with the Song “Party Rock”

Boys Republic

As we already mentioned previously, Boys Republic made their debut in the entertainment industry in 2013 with the release of the single “Party Rock.” Ever since its first release, “Party Rock” has been on the top charts in various countries, such as Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, and many more. “Party Rock” is kind of a trendy-electronic dance song, and really matches with all of the members of Boys Republic!

Some of the media outlets, and part of the general public even though that Boys Republic could be considered to be BTS’ new rivals, since they gained a lot of attention with their debut single, “Party Rock,” and their “boy next door” aura! Such a good way to start, right?

The Unit Appearances

Boys Republic

Not only working on their career in the music industry, but Boys Republic have also taken part in various television shows, such as The Unit, in 2017. The Unit was basically a survival show that aired on KBS, but was unlike any other television show. The show was about underrated idols; its purpose was to give unsuccessful idols a second chance so that they can make another debut and reach the success they deserve.

Moreover, it was not only one member who joined the show, but five of their member participated in The Unit! Before Boys Republic participated in The Unit in 2017, they made a comeback in 2016 with BR: Revolution and also had a promotion in Japan.

Boys Republic participated in The Unit to prove that all those people who had said that they didn’t make it in the K-Pop industry were wrong, since their name wasn’t as big as other boy bands. One of the members of Boys Republic, Suwoong, received a lot more attention from the public since participating in The Unit, even though he didn’t make it for re-debut. And unfortunately, none of the band’s members made it for the re-debut, nor they managed to join the Unit B.
