Breaking up can be the worst part of a romantic relationship. But, for some, breaking up means freedom. In TWICE‘s songs, all sorts of love story retellings can be found. One of them is the freedom someone gets from breaking up.

Released along with the Japanese album &Twice on November 19th, 2019, consisting of ten tracks, “Be OK” is the seventh track on the album. “Be OK” is a song about breaking up, but instead of being sad, it portrays the freedom about that breakup. The part “Be OK, everybody be OK” is the key part that can lead to an energetic breakup song.

Story of “Be OK”

For some, breaking up is devastating, but it may not apply to a relationship that drains your energy. In “Be OK,” TWICE tries to assure people who are going through a bad breakup, especially with someone who’s not the one, that everything is going to be ok even when going through a breakup because, sometimes, relationships can feel like a horror movie or like you are riding a roller coaster except you’re not really feeling excited about it.

That’s why, when going through a breakup with someone you can’t depend on, you should schedule a meeting with a friend and have fun while hanging out and being healed. It’s the best thing to do.

Sometimes, a breakup can make you lose composure and feel like things are going badly, but it teaches one lesson or two, and sometimes, it can make someone stronger after going through a breakup. So, even though you feel broken, it’s normal when you are going through a breakup. But, you can always put on a smile and date anyone after that so that you’re not missing your destined lover.

This energetic song that talks about a breakup was written by Shoko Fujibayashi. The ones who acted as the music composers for “Be OK” were Benny Jansson and Ida Pihlgren. Benny Jansson also became the producer for “Be OK.”
