Kim Hyun-soo is a teenaged actress from South Korea whose name is getting noticed recently. She was born in 2000, and began her career from her childhood as a child model. Her first role as an actress was through the 2011 film The Crucible as a deaf student who suffered abuse. That film landed her the nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 49th Grand Bell Awards. Kim then starred as the younger version of the female protagonist in a few hit dramas, notably Deep Rooted Tree, Bridal Mask, and My Love from the Star. She played her first regular role on the TV drama Gunman in Joseon.

During the February 1st broadcast of KBS 2TV Lunar New Year special ‘Star Friend‘, MC Yoon Son Ha had a slumber party with the child actresses and asked, “Who is your ideal type?” Kim Hyun Soo honestly shared that looks are important, as she replied, “I like good-looking [men]”, with a shy laugh.

Kim Hyun-soo played the love interest of Kim Soo-hyun back during the Joseon Dynasty, and also plays the younger version of Jun Ji-hyun. How lucky she is to play alongside with her ideal type crush. It’s also a cute coincidence that the two have similar names, Kim Hyun-soo and Kim Soo-hyun!

Kim Hyun-soo’s Latest Movie, Be With You

In 2018 recently, Kim was confirmed to join the movie Be With You alongside So Ji-sub and Son Ye-jin. Son Ye-jin and So Ji-sub will team up for the first time in this melodrama. It is based on the Japanese novel Now, I Am Coming to See You by writer ICHIKAWA Takuji, the project will mark the feature directing debut of LEE Jang-hoon.

So will play a man whose wife (Son) promises to meet him and their son again on a rainy day a year later before she dies. When the time comes, she does indeed return, but she has lost all of her memories. The story also focus on the couple during their high school years.

In this movie, Kim Hyun-soo will once again be the young version of the main role (Son) together with Lee You-jin as the young version of So Ji-sub. The new actor Kim Ji-hwan will play the role of their son.

Recently, a model and TV drama star So, who was last seen in Ryoo Seung-wan’s big-budget The Battleship Island has played various roles. His other major movie credits include Rough Cut (2008) and A Company Man (2013). Son is coming off of a big 2016, which saw her experience commercial success with both Hur Jin-ho’s The Last Princess and critical acclaim with Lee Kyoung-mi’s The Truth Beneath.
