Alice: Synopsis

In 2050, South Korea has a special institution that serves a specific purpose, to watch over and guard time travel technology. In the future, the technology is used to send clients to the past to see their precious ones or close some unfinished business.

Yoon Tae-yi (Kim Hee-sun) and her partner Yoo Min-hyuk (Kwak Si-yang) are given a task to find and recover a ledger about time travel. They find out that a rogue team also has an interest in that book. After returning to the future, Yoon Tae-yi finds out that she is pregnant with Yoo Min-hyuk as the father. Since she became pregnant while time traveling, her son, Park Jin-gyeom (Joo-won), suffers from emotional disorders. Her son grows up without emotion. Later, his mother is killed, and he must return to the past to find out about the murder.

Joo Won as Park Jin-gyeom

He is born without emotion because of the time-travel effect. His mother raises him secretly without the help of his father and family. Due to his disorder, Park Jin-gyeom was bullied by classmates. Growing up without a father and without family, he trusts no one but his mother. One day, his mother is killed, and he must return to the past to find the murderer.

Alice: Best Scenes

Park Jin-gyeom finally finds the younger version of his mother. He can’t help but hug her tightly. At that time, Yoon Tae-yi is barely dating his father and barely doing any research about time travel. He misses her very much, but she has no idea about this “perverted” guy.

Even after seeing his mother for the second time, Park Jin-gyeom can’t help but cry every time he sees her.

Alice: Ending

The time travel plot is a very tricky plot. If the screenwriter and director can direct the plot perfectly, then viewers can understand the story behind the convoluting scenes. However, Alice has some serious plot holes that make viewers confused. Some scenes are left unanswered, and some characters were left without any end.

Spoiler Alert!

It turns out that the person who killed Park Jin-gyeom’s mother is Park Jin-gyeom himself from a different future. The other Park Jin-gyeom believes that his suffering can end if he eliminates his mother or another version of himself.
