Park Ji-soo’s Career
Park Ji-soo is known as a newcomer actress in the South Korean film and television world. She was discovered by a talent scout in 2013 and immediately received her first lead role through the movie Mai Ratima. In this film, Park Ji-soo plays the character of Mai Ratima, a Thai woman who is forced to become an order bride to support her family.
Through her acting in this film, Park Ji-soo won praise and awards both at home and abroad, one of which was the award for Best New Actress from the 34th Blue Dragon Awards event in 2013. Before being contracted by director Yoo Ji-tae to star in Mai Ratima, Park Ji-soo had her debut in 2010 by starring in two short films, Dirty Harry and Metaphor.
Mai Ratima is arguably a new world for Park Ji-soo and director Yoo Ji-tae. This film was Yoo Ji-tae’s debut as a director. Then, Park Ji-soo tried acting in the Korean television drama world by starring in the romantic comedy drama The Idle Mermaid. This drama is a reproduction of The Little Mermaid but with a modern South Korean setting. Unfortunately, this drama was less successful in mesmerizing audiences and had to end at 10 episodes instead of the 14 planned episodes.
